Could not take delivery of my new 2011 AMV8 today due to eletrical problems?
Hi All,
Saw my new quantum silver roadster in the metal for the first time . . . WOW!! So absolutely gorgeous, I am SO thrilled I bought it. I definitely did not feel this happy/proud when I picked up my 911 3 years ago . . . the Aston is undoubtedly a special car from a special brand.
Unfortunately, I did not get to leave with it because it came off the transport from FL with a bunch of electrical issues. Specifically, the radio, seats and a few other things don't work. I'm not too bothered about it and I'm OK with waiting a few days to actually take delivery . . . but I did want to get your opinion as to why this may have happened.
The car sat in FL for almost a year (Jan 11 mfg date, 40 miles on the dial) and I'm guessing that charging the battery or maybe putting in a new one could be the culprit. What do you think? Anything to worry about? It's under warranty (of course) and the GM himself is on the case, so I'm sure it will all be fixed straightaway.

Sounds like a common thing for one that has been sitting around. The local dealer told me a lot of the "problems" they deal with are electrical because the cars don't get driven very much. Cars that were actually driven didn't tend to have many problems at all.
The battery probably died more than once and the car needs to be reflashed. Shouldn't be any problem. Just make sure everything works properly before you leave with it. I wouldn't consider it a sold car if everything does not work right from the start.
And if you can't, then at the very least keep it on the trickle charger. I don't know how bad v8s are, but if it's anything like a DB9, they chew thru batteries unless kept fully charged.

So just received an interesting update from my dealer. The dealer in FL (may) have removed a control module for the nav and that's why a decent % of the car's systems have no power.
Seems pretty crazy but I can just imagine what could have happened . . . dealer in FL had the need for an emergency repair; had the idea to pull the part they needed from another car; never remembered to replace it; shipped the car to me.
As long as it all gets fixed (and I have every reason to believe it will), this doesn't seem like it's that big a deal. That said, I do suspect that there is prob a bit more going on here than I've been told so far. We shall see!
