2006 Vantage coupe windshield

Hello everyone....Love the Aston Martin forum...former 911 and XKR guy

..I was hoping to make an introduction with some pics...lol
I recently purchased a gorgeous late 2006 vantage..with the power upgrade and quicksilver exhaust.....only 17000 miles ..Toro red....mint...Im so happy

Just had all fluids done, new shoes/rims and ....................while changing my wiper blades..........

..the passenger side arm recoiled, snapping on the screen.......the damage can not be fixed.... I need a replacement........nothing need be said as I could not be more unhappy with myself....lol...
I usually much more careful

nonetheless.............can you help me with options/suggestions around a replacement

Quote 2000.00 in Toronto Canada........other options/prices??????

I could go through my insurance if I need to

thanks for any help or suggestions........Once I get over this, Ill jump on the forum with some pics

Welcome aboard, nice to see another ON owner around.

How about this one as an option? Aston bits is usually pretty reliable. Not sure about shipping from the UK but, with $2k as your quote, there's a lot of head room there.

The only thing I'm unsure of is the 'heated windscreen' and whether that conforms to what you can use for your MY. Someone here may know (Irish? Fixer?).

Thanks...how did I miss that? ..lol

it appears Aston dealers here in Canada need to have major items shipped from the UK anyway.........

USA dealers do not..???

Yes Im not sure if the heated features matters...I'll inquire

thanks again............under these embarrassing circumstances lol

US dealers also require many parts to be sourced from the UK.

In Ontario I don't think you would need the front heated screen, you don't drive in the winter months so no real need for it. It is handy if you plan on things getting hot and steamy in the car

If your car comes with it and you don't mind loosing it..it's really all your choice..only real factor that could affect you is the price between with heated and non-heated.

BTW: When Ford sold Aston, Aston lost the rights to the front heated screen..so from 2008.5+ onwards there has never again been a Aston with front heated windscreen.

Lol, dunno, I put my car away on Dec 27 last year so I wouldn't have minded having one on some of those cold mornings.

Anyway, there u go Stewie, good deal on a premium part that is made for your MY. We should all be so lucky! I guess the next question is, do you need to take it to an AM dealer for the install or can it be done by a third party shop?

Thanks gents!
Insightful and helpful responses.

Yes the heated feature could be helpful druing those transition months around here..but the side mirrors are more important to me..and the back window has the function.

I have several choices....from the UK........the used /excellent piece may have some shipping issues attached/pkging /who to ship etc..

The other .....698. pounds...just under 1000 shipped...and its new....approx. 1600. cdn.

My issue would be duties, brokerage, taxes............

cost in Canada averaging 2400.00 before taxes and install

Great tip from Bamford Rose...................Just make sure whoever removes / fits the glass is careful not to damage / mark the leather close to where dashboard meet glass - this is something I have found even with good glass fitters.

Hope you sort the part and fitting OK.

BIG THANKS...Mike

I have an qualified installer who would do the work for 200.00...he just wants a photo shoot for his new business

I opened an insurance claim...my deduction is 1000.00 though....so Im waiting on this shipping suggestion for the 350 pound item...once this comes in and I get my head around customs and duties..ill make a decision..right now the crack is not spreading.........

WHOLLY..Sh..t....all over a 18.00 wiper...

thanks again everyone...what a supportive group...can t wait to share pics
