I believe you mean the GT....the GT 40 really is out of this world (pricing)

Both the GT and the Vantage are polar opposites (IMO) and thats what makes them so special. Great write up Penguin. I would love to add a GT some day, the major issue I am having is that they are appreciating!!

Yes they are. Buy one now and in two years sell it for more then you paid and get something else.

Haha, exactly what I was thinking. Now, if I could get a nice GT40 for what I could buy a Vantage for, I think I'd pull the trigger!

Shelby will be missed he did a ton for motorsport and the car hobby for sure. How old was he at passing? (didn't see the clip yet maybe it will say). He was a philanthropsit and foundation holder and he was a spokesperson for everything from auto parts to cars to Zmax. Whomever will be the next spokesperson to fill those big shoes who knows!??

I'd take the GT over the Aston every day of the week and twice on Sunday!

It wins in every category over the Aston hands down except for visibility. They aren't comparable in looks, handling, power, or "cool factor." It wouldn't even be a question for me! If I found a GT for a great price I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.

Back to Shelby, read that he actually won the 24 Hours at Le Mans for Aston Martin in 1959. Never knew there was a connection between him and the marque.

He was a key part of the Aston Martin "legend" and the company loved him.

^^^ Shelby and Aston are very close. Long before the days of Ford. Yes he raced for Aston and won LM for them. The old man always had a soft spot for Aston Martin, as AM itself turns 100 in 2013, she will sorely miss the late 89 year old (who is close to as old as the company itself)....Shelby grew up with the begininnings of AM, during his life he would see the rise, and fall, the good times and bad, the struggles and the successes of the modern era Astons... so he really has been a part of the legacy for a very long time.

Whereas I see it exactly the opposite. I'd choose the Aston, because I'd drive it. My issue with the Ford GT's is that they are not produced anymore. I won't ever buy a car with a limited production run, for only 1 year. Repair parts will be a ***** (not the general purpose Ford parts, but the GT specific stuff). I'd be afraid to drive it, just out of fear that something will happen, and I can't replace something with an OEM piece.

The only way I'd get a GT, is if I could get two of them, park one, and drive the other. But then again, I'm not one for garage queens, so that rules out the only possible scenario. So either way, Aston it is.

Believe they made it for 2 years, not 1. Cars like the GT generally have a strong following and specialty sites will make hard to find replacements in years to come. A good example would be Hall Pantera for the also limited DeTomaso Pantera that Ford powered.

The GT is a solid vehicle, many are twin-turbocharged and they continue to set the bar in the mile.

I would love to have a GT and the Aston in the garage
