You are confusing 'fun' with 'focused'. If you had said that the V12V was more of a focused sports car, I would have had no issue. But you said more fun, and the DBS is not less 'fun' than the V12V.

Fun or focused, its all in the individuals perspective. It seems that you need to have the last word so knock yourself out. By the way, which car did you choose?

The v12 vantages will drop below 150k, but will base somewhere in the 130-140k range then probably start appreciating from there, I don't see them going below that, especially for a carbon black

I wonder if the "Carbon Black" editions will command any premium going forward. Currently, they don't seem to get any premium over the other models. Is there something I'm missing beyond its rarity? Any extra equipment?

Nope, similar to the DBS Carbon Black Edition, it is mainly cosmetic upgrades such as the wheels and bits of carbon fiber.
The DBS Carbon Edition has two different colors produced - flaming orange and a grey.

If you want collectors items Ferrari limited production cars are the way to go. Who knows what the Gaydon era Astons will fetch down the road, just enjoy tham as has been said many times on this thread. I personally really like the V12V but I also love the DB series cars, I think down the road the values will be based on things like originality, quality of restoration (as the cars get older some will be restored), numbers matching, history and provinance, and those kinds of criteria. There are also some very limited production Porsches (GT3 RS, GT2, GT2 RS, CGT) that will go up in value, same thing with lambos (Balboni, Bicolore, supertrofeo, LP670SV).

I understand that there are some limited edition Porsches, but to me it just seems like more 911s, of which there are tons out there. I just don't see those limited editions commanding the same premium in the future as those of some other marques. Then again, I'm not a Porsche guy.

^^^ The reason why is exactly akin to what you are saying...they are 911s...which is the most iconic shape and car in the modern history of motoring. Certain 911 cars are very very desirable. The 911 Carrera RSA, 964 RS America, 930 Turbo slantnose, 964 Cup, 993 Turbo S, 993 Cup and RSR, 959, GT1, GT2, GT2RS, GT3 and RS, CGT, and more.

There are many Porsche guys which makes bidding on these cars more of a frenzy, there's nothing like being behind the wheel of one of these desirable 911s, or any 911 for that matter...I love them! But then again I'm a Porsche guy ...and a ferrari guy, and an Aston Martin guy, and a lambo guy....hahaha!!!! oh man...I love them them all

There have been several hundred thousand 997's. The most special of these are not that special considering the fact that there was a 996 and soon to be a 991 version of the same car. The numbers of Gallardos are less, but still staggering. Their "special" addition cars like the bicolor and the Balboni didn't set the world on fire either and if you want a real deal just but an R8. All exotics including Ferraris now depreciate on a steep slope (thanks to the California). As far as a future collect-ability, I think that it will depend on the next generation of cars. If AM keeps making a V12V, then these cars will not really appreciate. It there is only one run of a car like that then there will be a value in the future. It just won't be the near future.

I think the days of a V12 manual tranny car with limited electronics are numbered.

The visceral experience that the V12V provides may be something that will be hard to come by going forward.

There's been some really enthusiastic owners of V12V's here - that, if anything, bodes well for its quality and long term 'value'.

Okay, I think it is time to dig this thread up.

Lots of speculation here, but time has passed and we have some answers:

- there were 1200ish V12's made.
- 100 of the Roadsters.
- 195ish cars in the US, 40 of the carbon editions.
- They are THE LAST V12 car with a 6speed made by ANY manufacturer in the world.
- The future cars like all manufacturers will likely be smaller forced induction (AMG) engines.

I was offered good money for my car and I did not part with it. I have also considered a Gallardo Superleggera car as I only drive a thousand or so miles a year (I spend most of my driving time at the track), but the "speacialness" of the V12 just pulls me back (The Gallardo is on my bucket list though)

Anyway, what say you guys now?

I'm bit surprised that the prices on the V12V are still falling. I thought they would level off at 150ish but I've seen a few at the 139k mark meaning they will probably negotiate lower....

Yes, they're still falling and likely will continue to do so. However, it should be noted that a) there's very few 2011/2012 cars coming into the market; and b) some of the cars available for sale now have been offered for sale *for a long time*. There's a reason they're not selling and that is because some of these cars have higher miles (or aren't optioned well) or other problematic histories/condition issues. The longer they don't sell, the more they are marked down.

I suspect very well kept cars with relatively low miles will hover in the $140K - $150K range for quite some time. To be truthful though, there aren't any well kept, low mile cars for sale now. Of course, the other reality is there aren't a ton of buyers for these cars either . . . we are a small market.

Mileage doesn't matter for an Aston.
