Vantage V8 Rear Muffler Removal Question
I have a Quicksilver Supersport back box and the sound is pretty loud under acceleration, but not bad at cruising. Seems like straight pipes are going to be obnoxiously loud, but that is a nice clean look underneath the back with just the pipes.
I have secondary cat deletes, x-pipe and the gt4 muffler delete pipes on a 4.7. Higher pitch, much louder and more exotic under throttle in my opinion but can hold a conversation with top down crusing at highway speeds. The x-pipe mellows it out a bit. I have before and after videos but the GoPro mic isn't really capable of picking up the difference. It is significantly different and I love it. With Velocity rowdy tune (my words not theirs) there are not many better sounds coming from a V8. But consider the source, I like it loud and this setup is not for everyone.

Here are the videos. They actually capture the difference better than I thought. These videos were recoreded while running the factory tune.
Factory exhaust with valves open
Seconday cats deleted, x-pipe and GT4 pipes

Top down, under heavy acceleration it is loud, but managable. Top down cruising at high way speeds you can easliy hold a conversation. Top up makes a fairly significant difference. I'll record another video.
Sounds like a muffler delete and X pipe are in order. A decent muffler shop can most likely weld the pipes for $400 tops including an off the shelf x-pipe. It won't be as "pretty" as an off the shelf system, but we're talking a price delta of over a few grand I believe.
I emailed @Stuart Dickinson at Velocity AP, I want them to make muffler delete pipe with x-pipe, instead of just strait pipes. I'm just worried with strait pipes it'll be too loud for me. They haven't done it on V8 Vantage, but they did on DB9
An interesting design from a sound perspective but if you care about performance, not the best. An x-pipe located closer to the mid section will help with low end torque and throttle response by equalizing pressure between the cylinder banks and helping to pull the exhaust gases out. I assume an x-pipe that far from the combustion chamber loses any effectiveness. That along with those right angles that are necessary to create the "x" will potentially eliminate any other marginal torque gains you would normally see with a freer flowing exhaust. But I am no expert.

@Fabspeed Motorsport secondary cat bypass and x-pipe. Here's the link to their site: https://www.fabspeed.com/aston-marti...bypass-x-pipe/
