New to forums, buying an AM V8V and have a couple questions...
Fortunatley for me, I've spent time in enough parts of the world that I find the good in all of them. Florida is a temporary stop but I'd rather be here than the ****** magnet that you seem to be proud to call home.
You really should step back and take a look at your ravings and childish BS. WTF?
So, some guy suggested that you might have had clutch trouble due to poor driving. He doesn't know you. Just explain that you have the experience to feel confident that it's not user error and move on. You take everything as a personal affront to the vast wonder that you think you've made of your life; best this, best that.
No one really cares much until you start hurling insults and ad hominem attacks.
Share your opinions and your facts, but please back the F off of the weak little jabs. If you think you know someone because of the watch they wear, imagine what I could think I know about you (hint, it might not be good).

Do you know what was entry level for Aston Martin before they built the Vantage? The DB9. Oh the horror!
As for watches, that's really a non-starter because every single mechanical movement ever made is less accurate than a $20 quartz Casio. Even tourbillon-driven pieces are not more accurate. Besides, it was an analogy, which only works if people know what the hell you're referring to. Rolex is the most recognized premium watch brand in the world, hence the plethora of replicas.
Given your posting style I'd think there was a straw shortage out there in Vegas.........

Just so you know, I'm younger than you are and am pretty embarrassed by your behavior. You being well off is great but it doesn't make you better or give you any new rights, or in fact allow you to talk down and insult people.
I had the option to never work again at 19. Instead, I wanted to do something more with all the years ahead of me and gave a very large proportion of my earnings to those that needed it far more than I did.
Now I'm in medical school and looking forward to giving back, not insulting those that chose to do something that benefits the world and its people.
You're not going to make many friends here unless you grow up and realize you are no better than anyone else. As is so often said -
Money can't and apparently doesn't buy you class.

Don't worry there Mr. Mikimoto...you didn't win.
Wow. I wrote a response earlier to our departed poster but didn't have a chance to post it. I came back and missed all the "fun." FWIW, here's what I wrote:
mokushiroku,
Thanks for making me laugh. To summarize:
1) If one doesn’t agree with you, it’s because one has no mechanical knowledge.
2) You think there is no difference in clutch life expectancy between a single-clutch paddle ‘box and the same ‘box with a clutch pedal.
3) The people who have personally gone beyond 60K miles (not just 50K, BTW) on their original V8V’s clutch are lying.
4) The only reason that a ZF automatic can fail is because of user neglect.
5) User neglect had nothing to do with your inability to get decent life out of your car’s clutch.
6) Because, obviously, you’re an expert.
7) You expect 75hp out of your new headers.
8) If headers wouldn’t give that much of a gain to the V8, the DB9 must be better.
9) It couldn’t possibly be that the V8 has better headers to begin with, so there is less power left on the table.
10) The known problems affecting the V12 engine don’t count.
11) Because you say they don’t count.
12) What you’ve supposedly been told by AM Las Vegas must be everything there is to know about V8Vs and DB9s and must be true.
13) What I’ve been told by my AM dealer must be false.
14) The experience of a car used by a dealer as a track car and driven by who knows how many people with who knows what levels of skill is the perfect barometer of Vantage durability.
15) The world scoffs at the Vantage because it’s the entry level Aston Martin.
16) There is no denying the universal acceptance of the DB9.
17) 0W-20 oil is the best oil on the planet.
18) You want to use 0W-20 oil in your DB9 because you have some leftover.
19) Top Gear is THE ultimate arbiter of things automotive.

This is all one needs to know about our thankfully departed poster. Good riddance.

Wow, looks like I missed quite a discussion. Was busy over the last couple of days and didn't have time to keep up on recent posts. In view of that post about the Special Olympics, I think we understand what kind of person we were dealing with. Good riddance indeed!
I am a doctor, I am in my 50's, but I am not fat and I enjoy each day of my life probably as much as you do, even though I work 12 hour days and you are retired at 32. I have just ordered a new V8V of my own free will-I could have afforded a DB9 but I actually like the dimensions and the looks of the Vantage over the DB9. But that's just my opinion like it is just your opinion that the DB9 is better. I was aware of the clutch issue when I ordered it but I also own a Gallardo which has, you guessed it, a single clutch automated manual (e gear). The clutches usually last 5k-20k mi in that car also. But the pleasure I get out of the lambo and I anticipate out of the Vantage is worth a clutch in 20K mi to me. And after all, $6,000 in 20K mi is a small percentage of the value of the car and well worth it to me. The last thing I want to do is sound condescending, I just wanted you to hear a story from someone who closely fit the circumstances you have been railing about.
