RE: Vanquish

Christian, you posted in the vendor section so I restarted your thread here.

also, same question for the db9 from 2005-2007 or so

thanks
Vanquish 2002-2004 will be a pre-S model. Sub-frame corrosion issues are not uncommon, and the gear position sensors can be a problem if they haven't been upgraded (won't shift properly). You'll find the most Vanquish info at amoc.org.

A 2005-2007 DB9 should have had any niggles sorted out with regular service at an AM dealer. Mechanically pretty much bulletproof as long as it's been properly serviced. For 2005 & 2006 make sure the auto transmission cooler couplings have already been replaced -- there was an issue with corrosion that was covered under warranty. If not done already, it's about $2K to repair. Also look for any paint bubbling, especially on the front fenders, exterior mirrors & around the door handles. There were some cases of poor prep at the factory that led to poor paint bonding.

2005=good, 2006=better, 2007=best.

I've been driving my 2006 DB9 as a DD for 18 month now with no issues.

Check for signs or corrosion around window edges
Check headlight plastic for signs of clouding or etching
Check chrome areas for any sign of lifting
Check panel gaps for any sign of previous damage or malalignment
Observe front splitter for speed ramp and stone chip damage – bound to be present but to what degree
Wheels – observe for any kerb damage
Check headlight and windscreen wiper sensor functioning properly

11K miles when I bought it, 21K miles now.

Probably shouldn't have bought one with such low mileage, but I couldn't resist -- it just looked too good I've replaced brakes & tires, but nothing unexpected. Doesn't seem to use a drop of oil from service to service. I still smile every day I drive it.

Lots of quicker cars out there, but the torque curve is really satisfying and the real world (public road) performance is more than enough. And it sounds fantastic! Astons are all about balance: performance, handling, exclusivity, looks, comfort & luxury. Not the best at any one thing, just the best all round package.

Go try one. I think you'll like it.

Christian welcome to the am forums I hope you will find our membership to be valuable to you. Yvr has given some great info as he normally does. You will find many helpful DB and vantage owners here to help you when you ask questions regarding aston ownership. I have had a very positive experience withe my DB9, it's a 6spd manual with sport pack so I'm not too familiar w the paddle shift transmission.
