Brake calipers silver over to black
Brake calipers silver over to black
Hey guys, I've been slowly modifying my Vantage (painted stock wheels gray and adding N400 sills) also H&R springs/spaces as soon as its back from the body shop. Next I'd like to switch over to Black brake calipers instead of the silver ones it came with. Does anyone in the SoCal area have any interest in swapping? Thought I'd ask before making the trip to the Aston dealer
I keep forgetting ours have the marque painted. I have seen them using Brembo or Stoptech decals on top of the new color. May actually affect your re-sale value though. Let me ask and get back.
Why change the silver calipers, they are a factory upgrade option. My DB has silver calipers personally I think they are the best color caliper for the car, subtle and classy they just look perfect with the factory sport pack wheels!
Thanks for the help V8Vin
Sunir, I completely agree but after painting the wheels gray not sure I like the contrast agents the silver. Black just seems more suitable now with the new color.

The "Aston Martin" on the calipers is painted on, but you can use decals to replicate the original paint. I repainted my calipers on my old V8V. If you want to get decals, "Optima" font closely resembles the factory font. You need the letters to be of a font size that results in the two words being about 4 inches long. I identified the company I used for my decals in an old thread you can search for. I tried many different companies before I found one that could produce a version I was happy with. The problem is that the letters are so small that most companies can't produce them without distortion. Once you get the decals, you need to orient them on the calipers so that the apex of the "A" in Aston points to the front of the car.

just curious about the decals you guys refer to? what will it be made of that can handle the temperature? calipers can get hot!
In my opinion the best color for the calipers is Red! they look fantastic, I even epoxy coated my suspension braces red to match my calipers and when the bonnet is closed you can see them discretely under the bonnet honey comb

They're vinyl. They're good for up to 170 degrees if I remember correctly. Fine for road use. Not sure about track use though.
well i dont let my wife make decisions when it come to my toys, (next thing I will be seen in a Priese -not sure how to spell it and not sure why they sell either) Red calipers are the Sh&^%%^t... its that simple. My Merc comes with standard grey calipers with a hint that it may be special (AMG) but like anything grey it reminds me of a bank manager who finds no value in anything that resembles fun....black calipers belong on Honda's with oversized exhaust pipes Red calipers are on anything special therefore standard on High end bikes as well
