Dealer refuses the sale
We did actually meet the owner during our negotiations but he came off as a complete ***. At one point even saying "I don't need to do the sale bud", which was the sign for us to start walking out the dealership. But then the sales manager came out, talked to us for a long time and even apologized for the way the owner's attitude was and that's when we made the deal with him.
The sales manager was a completely different person, you could tell that he loved what he did and the car they had in the show room he had fully customized himself with two tone leather, carbon fiber and etc. We went for a test drive and boy this guy knew how to drive. Nothing crazy but we took a turn and did a sharp 90 degree turn, great braking and control of the car...he is in his 50s by the way.
To make the long story short, we have been going back and forth with them and the sales manager felt so bad about the whole thing that he agreed to pay the difference out of his own pocket. I don't know how much of it is actually true but based on talking to him he did not seem to be lying. I really do think he went out of his way to make things right, which says a lot about his character.
Anyways, great guy and my friend is very happy with the car.
If you are in the VA/MD/DC area, stay away from the owner for Aston of Washington but definitely talk to the Peter, the sales manager.
My friend is thinking about wrapping the car in orange, anyone done this? they had a car with the wrap on it and it looked incredible!

There are (5) owners of AM of Washington, with (2) active partners and I've met and spoken with them both. They have always been very gentlemanly with me and gone the extra effort to make sure I was a satisfied customer. Perhaps you caught one of them on a bad day...it can happen.
Glad it was resolved. Perhaps see you at Cars and Coffee in Great Falls on a Saturday morning?
HA! That's AM of Washington, where I bought my Aston. Pieter, the GM, is an amazing fellow, and a true gearhead, I like him immensely and consider him a friend - and I don't generally say that of most car dealer folks.

AM of Washington is fairly new and trying to do a good job in the local Aston Community. I've been to some of their events and know some folks there, met Pieter also, nice guy.
In the case of a consignment, the dealer can always choose to pay the difference to make the deal "stick" if it's an "almost there" situation. This happens a lot in the high end car market auctions, RM, Goodman, etc... otherwise as mentioned the owner can choose to comprimise the difference or split it some way with the 3rd party.
