Goodbye V8VS, Hello Round Three (my review)
Okay guys, sad to say but my V8VS was traded in last week. Luckily I kept the wheels, the suspension and the memories. I hope everyone was able to enjoy the presentation of my car whether you were able to see my old car in pictures or person. It baffles me to think how many camera phones my car is on.
But on to better news. I pulled the trigger on a V12 Vantage Carbon Black. As in my other threads, the V12 was always my unicorn, my pedestal car. I never thought I would own an Aston Martin; did it with my 06' V8V. I remember seeing a new V8VS and the price tag, and never would of imagined getting one; did that. The V12 was so far beyond my comprehension, but between all the blessings and positive priorities in my life, it's finally mine.
First impressions) It is a completely different car. There are actually little things I'll miss on my V8VS. The tighter steering ratio, the gauge cluster and TPMS monitoring, and the lamy pen
Even though lowered, my V8VS felt very tight and nimble with the tighter steering rack and this is the second most noticeable difference that I wish the V12 had.
The V12 engine) Steering rack/ratio aside, the engine is mind-blowing and most noticeable and obvious difference. The torque and "wave of power" is truly noticeable in only the 80hp difference (aside the 4 cylinders). You can be in 6th gear at 65mph and just tap the gas to accelerate. The combination of the engine, exhaust, power and torque will definitely keep me content for some time.
For all V8 owners, I recommend you take a chance to test drive a V12 and feel the difference. I'm not sure I could go back.
6-Speed Transmission) I never thought I would miss driving stick. I always though that getting into GT cars would leave me with refinement, comfort and the minor effort with paddles. Don't get me wrong, I love the SS2 with this crisp high-rev shifts, and the fact it was a carbon-fiber transmission, but it also felt lacking compared to the industry with dual clutches, etc. Getting back to my roots of a manual transmission brings the V12 even more to life. Yes, the throws are a little lengthy and not extra crisp, but the third pedals makes the car feel more alive. Plus, I can free rev to hear the exhaust easier and truly control the gears.
I just finished the first mods with my HRE P40SC wheels and my old H&R suspension. Luckily the wheels cleared the larger brake calipers, and ACG San Diego (who installed my suspension) did an awesome job fabricating shims to match my V8VS' ride height. Below is a quick teaser picture, with a full detail and photoshoot on the way.
Glad to stay within the family (as Aston Martin is the only brand I've owned 3 times).

BTW, I have an extra OEM Car Cover, Battery Tender and the Umbrella if anyone is looking to buy.

Congrats on the new acquisition. The wheels and stance look perfect.
My new vantage was missing the exact pieces you have as extras. I don't have enough posts to pm you. If you'd pm me email, and a price for all three, I'd appreciate it

Wow, congrats on the V12!!! Looks fantastic on those wheels and I can only dream that my own Vantage story will follow a similar path! I'd be interested in the umbrella but am unable to send PM's at the moment. Is there another means by which I can contact you on this?
What CF transmission are you talking about? No such thing.
Congratulations! Also, welcome back to the delights of a 3-pedal car.
I'm guessing he means the propshaft -- which is CF on the V8 and the V12, so no need to miss it

Well Elude you beat me to the V12 ownership thing... Had my luck been different on the deals that I had under contract but failed to close I too would be sporting the V12 Vantage. I'm envious but at the same time really happy for you. All the best, she's beautiful!
Damn, you did it after all.
While that is nice looking, that red on the S was remarkable. Really made me appreciate that particular hue.
But back to praising your new toy. Since I'm still on my first AM, a nice starter 4.3, I can only imagine (for now) the thrill of that power plant in that car. Thanks for the clear and specific notes about the differences.
And have fun getting to know that engine.
