What's your other car? Sedan SUV?

Itching to swap out the E-class for something else due to the ever increasing mileage (160k) now and i've been trying to decide between another sedan or an SUV.

My guilty pleasure choice is the G wagon ... don't know how utilitarian that is as a DD just due to the gas mileage and my 3 mile commute to work not having any off-roads ... lol, but gosh i love that car and think it will be a perfect change up. Also, with a pearl white Aston what color would you go with. I love white cars, but think black or tectite gray will be a great complement.

Anyone own both an Aston and a G wagon and have pix to share? Or any comments on your "other" car and why you went one direction in terms of sizing and color?

What do you have as a DD that is also utilitarian?

Go for the G. It's a love/hate car, but it sounds like you love it - as do I. This might sound bad, but everyone seems to have a Range Rover and the G is a nice alternative, it's something different. I have an ML & love it - no major issues & the dealership provides great service.

My current DD is a 2012 Jaguar XJL Supercharged. I love great designs (i.e. Astons) and this car is gorgeous too. I get compliments all the time. I also wanted something large enough to fit 5 people comfortably with tons of power.

I tried the SUV route with a 2011 Porsche Cayenne. Great truck, but got bored with it after a few months.

I've driven the G wagons. They look cool, but for me, their poor handling and ride would get old quick.

If you want an SUV, I'd look at the new 2014 Range Rover Sport that will arrive in the fall. My wife has the current model, and loves it. I actually like it as well. The new ones are completely redesigned and the pictures look great.

Look luck with your search.

Does it matter? If your go to get into a car and your choice is Aston or X, why exactly would you chose the X?

My X only gets drive 20-25% of the time.

I have an '06 4Runner 4WD for my DD. plenty tough and reliable, and I can put my dogs, mountain bike, and anything else I want in it without caring, and it's perfect for snow.

My DD is my DBS (which is for sale as I will now be daily'g an Exige).
But for utility my wife and I live out LR4 - mainly because we have 3 kids. So for trips and utility it's a great vehicle. It's also a great tow vehicle for my track cars.

My daily driver is the Aston Martin. For the weekends, I have a Ferrari 360 spider or a Jaguar XKE coupe. A lot of variety between these makes. Keeps it interesting.

The current utility car is a BMW 535xi Touring (Station Wagon). It's got plenty of hauling space, handles very well, and is reasonably quick thanks to a pair of turbos. It even has all wheel drive for all the snow we get here in Texas.

When it isn't too hot for my wife we also have an Electra Glide Limited. And I find myself contemplating picking up a C6 ZR1.

P.S. Seeing the big Jags reminds me that we sold our Indigo blue XJ Super V8, which I miss very much.

^^ Love the XJ! Have had several German large sedans including Alpina B7, Panamera 4S, AMG55 S-class and Audi S8 (2) and the Supersport is far and away the best of the bunch! The ride, the power, the handling, the styling, the interior, the stereo... all the best!

Chipped 2011 GTI.
Not in the lux league but a great compliment to the Vantage.

I use the GTI as a utility vehicle. Kayaks and bikes on the roof, piles of stuff inside. And unlike a truck (or SUV as some call it), it's always fast and nimble.

The decent MPG is nice too.

Much as I love those big Jags, I don't have the discipline to take care of two nice cars. I need my DD/adventure car to be low $ so I don't mind filling it with sand, water, dog fur, etc.
