As you tilt the back, the seat moves forward so that the seatback doesn't touch the rear seat, and if you move the seat rearwards, the seatback tilts forward, so that regardless of the seat position, the combination of fore/aft adjustment and tilt angle never results in the seatback touching the rear seat.

Now, if it does touch the rear seat, it levers the seat cushion upwards at the rear, causing the airbag warning. At least that's what the AM tech said.

Exactly,

All you have to do is just make sure the seat isnt pressing again anything behind it. Even and 1/8 of an inch will make a difference between the airbag light coming on and going off.

The auto tilt seat function only came on seat memory vehicles which only were available in 2007..did u say u took out the pass seat.. And u turned the ignition on? If so then an open circuit was detected as a hard fault and the occupant seat module had lost power for it's attached to the bottom side of the pass seat cushion, which means the occupant seat weight sensor will now need to be recalibrate by the dealer scan tool AMDS
