Need Suggestions on Wax or Polish

I'm looking for a good wax or polish to use on my Aston. Any suggestions?

Your main choice is carnauba-based wax or synthetic sealant. IMO wax is a waste of time as latest gen sealants are way more durable. Some say they don't like the 'cold' look of sealants - well, to each their own but it's too subtle a difference to be relevant to me. As to brand, a lot of people obsess over this but IMO it really isn't important in the grand scheme of things compared to paint prep (clay if needed, machine polish) and maintenance being obsessive with proper technique (2 bucket wash or rinseless wash, pat or blow dry). Once the paint is properly prepped, the maintenance bit is the most important - one careless wash or dry will undo all that work and all the wax or polish in the world isn't going to fix that, just temporarily hide it.

spend a bit of time reading over at http://www.autopiaforums.com/?gclid=...FUOd4AodqGUASQ (good detailing forum)

good detailing is as much about the process as it is about the products you use

If there are any surface contaminates ... Clay bar to get the surface like glass. Then I have had excellent luck with the Zaino products. Just follow their directions.

Typically speaking a clay bar for clean up, 'Polish' for any larger scratches (I like Meguiar's for that), ' Glaze' for 'filling' light scratches (typical on black cars), the 'Wax' to seal it all.

Zaino is also VERY easy to work with wax wise, and lasts 6mo+.

I use Zymol wax on my Vantage, I start with a detailed wash then I go over the entire car with a Mothers clay bar. Next step is Zymol HD-Cleanse, this picks up anything the clay bar may have missed. For the final step I apply Zymol (Concours) wax by hand, then I gently polish it with a microfiber cloth to a high luster. I do this twice a year and I'm extremely happy with the results!

I am hooked on Adam's Polishes products. My two favorites are the Detail Spray, and the Quick Sealant - I use the sealant on my wife's black Acura RDX.

For the Vantage, it will be Adam's Americana Carnauba Paste Wax / Detail Spray.

Over the years I've literally tried dozens (if not more) products. After I found the Adam's stuff, I haven't bothered with looking for something different.

However, as we all know - there are many fabulous products available and that's part of the fun ... finding the one you like best!

Cheers,

Jim

Aston Paint protection kit

Aston just released a kit for owners to use that is factory approved etc...I ordered a kit from my dealer and will let y'all know how it works!

my dealer tells me it comes with interior and exterior protection (I assume this is zymol wax) with gloves in the kit so we can keep the stuff off our hands.

Mequires has a new synthetic liquid white "wax" that is fantastic. Easy on easy off, great shine. Always clay bar first for best results.

Lots of opinions and preferences about this subject. Like Mario, I use Zymol HD-Cleanse and Concours. It takes some effort, but the results are fantastic and, while my car (Onyx Black) is not a daily driver, it seems to be quite durable.

Synthetic Sealant then wax

The synthetic sealants are tough to beat for ease of use, finish and durability. I do that then finish with carnauba wax.
