I am thinking about replacing either/both and don't want to take off the bumper if not necessary. Thanks!

I was able to remove and replace the exhaust tips with the resonating ones on mine without removing the bumper or muffler. It did take a bit of maneuvering, however, I was even able to accomplish the task without even lifting the rear end on a floor jack. My car has the same N420 style bumper and diffuser as yours, so it is possible. As with most tasks, it does depend on the person's skill level and having the right tools.

what do the Resonating tips look like, are those the ones with the swiss cheese holes inside the tips?
I have the smooth ones and having a RSC exhaust it exhibits some reverb and refracted sound that does not sound as good as with them off.. wondering if the swiss cheese resonating tips would reduce that. I suspect they may

if the resonating tips are the ones with the holes,, I know that my VIRAGE and the DB 9 don't come standard with them from aston and the DBS, and VANTAGE and VANQUISH do.

would be interested in resonating tips if those are the ones with the holes if anyone has any

thanks

Yes, the resonating tips are the "swiss cheese" ones. Don't know if they make any actual difference in the sound. Sometimes the double-walled construction is simply for heat dissipation so the plastic bumper around it doesn't melt. Not all Vantages come with these tips. I have yet to figure out the rhyme or reason as to why some do and some don't. Cosmetically, I think they look better, but I'm weird that way.

Yes those holes in the tips are sound deadening and that design is also used in mufflers to scatter reflected sounds and in some sound studios and other devices have seen it several times

by allowing some of the sound to go into the holes and then out, it delays some of the sound and balances it out,, and helps reduce reflections of sound on the walls of the tips before it exits and thus reflected and refracted sound and that hard metallic echo you sometimes can hear.. tin can effect

its not a huge effect,, but doesn't need to be as reducing reflected sound 20 % can have a huge effect on final tone which is why aston seemed to put the resonated tips on the louder cars,, like DBS, and VANQUISH and VANTAGE and didn't on the VIRAGE and DB9
so if you have a aftermarket exhaust,, makes sense to switch out the tips
as far as IM concerned
