There is no "Aston Martin" engine. 4s, 6s, 8s and 12s have all done their part. Remember the DB7 started out production as a straight 6. So in the big picture, a v8 DB9 seems fine.

Now let's just demand that it be a brilliant V8.

Well they could use DB8 since they skipped it. They feared people thinking DB8 would mean it has an 8 cylinder so the 9 was used.

If it's an AMG-powered V8 it'll sure as hell be good. But really, at the rate the automotive industry is going, the next DB9 will be a 4-cylinder turbo.
