Question leak at oil filter.....

noticed a small spot on garage, jacked up car and noticed the drips coming from the oil filter (the other day on highway the car in front of me had some sticks/etc falling out back and i remember hearing one hit under the car)... the oil filter has a ding and a flat spot on it where it's having a slow drip.

i know that normally removing the oil filter means a full oil change, but curious on the dry sump setup if i could just remove the filter and top it up or it's just like every other car?....

only reason i ask is the last time i had the oil changed the dealer slightly overfilled it and it was a real pain in the butt, so not sure if i trust em..

if i took it somewhere, what is the proper amount of oil to be used so I can not have the overfill issue again.

thank you.

You can remove the oil filter on most any car and truck and not lose more than 1/2 a quart of oil in most cases. No need to change the oil in the sump. Stick a new one on, run the car and check the oil, the fill as needed.
