sounds like the edge professional is the right oil then.

I bet Castrol is just laughing at us.... they probably make one oil and put a bunch of different bottle labels on it.

It gets even worse when you compare each product in different countries!

I believe some degree of marketing is involved in specific brands as opposed to weights, etc.

I just bought some oil castrol full synth at the bmw dealer used on the M cars as recommended by long time owners here.

Long time association with ducatis, oil is one of the most talked about subjects. I just try to adhere to the manuf recommendation for weight and type, but just don't stress over who makes the oil. Lots of the ducs come with oil that's not even available in the US.

Are synthetic oils manufactured differently? I used Kendal synthetic when I changed last.

I agree there's a lot of marketing involved. My opinion is that for most owners, oil choice won't even matter so long as it checks all the right boxes. Getting into the very specific differences between certain oils, I think, is just splitting hairs. Unless you're pushing your car, I'd imagine it doesn't matter.

I tend to thrash mine a bit, so I've done a bit of digging. I'm using Edge Professional and from what I can tell it's held up very nicely so far. I think I'm going to send a sample in for analysis just out of curiosity, though.
