The rest of the interior I left out. I've been toying with the idea to buy another interior set, have it Alcantara upholstered and mend that to allow the cage to be left in in time to come.

A package arrived yesterday..

The last 'body' upgrade planned for: Virage sills for a more aggressive look. Order numbers are: CG43-10608 for the RH and CG43-10609 for the LH. Will let you know how we go with this.

Below a simple Photoshop showing the potential end result I'm after.

Yes, but why would anyone want it returned to bamboo? I've never understood why such an upmarket car would have the same material as on my kitchen floor!

You realise you'll have to change the wheels next?

To me, any material other than fabric and plastic in a car interior is welcome. Can be wood, carbon fiber, leather, Alcantara, aluminum... heck, put some terracotta in there so long as it's a substitute for an otherwise plastic part! I spend too much time inside cheap cars.

What's the appeal with Alcantara? It just looks like cheap messy felt lining to me, and a less attractive look than leather for seating and steering wheel.

My roof lining looked patchy and dirty - drove me nuts until I got all the fibers in line with a brush. Even then, whenever I clean the inside of the windscreen I have to smooth the fabric on the pillars again.

I'm also no fan of Alcantara, have ton's of it on my new GT. Probably live with it a season or two and replace much of it with proper leather. Steering wheel is alcantara - slippery. Also not a fan of Carbon Fiber

Agree, but maybe a future owner in say 50 years time [when a then 60 year old DB9 may have the same 'status' as the DB5 currently.. ] wants to bring it back to original.

On the wheels: I absolutely love these original early-style wheels. Other then these I would consider the DBS / MY13-DB9 wheels if they were 19"..

Taste

Missed this entire thread.. Wow, your DB9 looks fantastic! That cage turned out amazing and I love the truffle interior! That 3m wrap you applied on the interior.. Did you cover around the stereo control area as well? It seems like it matches the OEM "silver ish" color on the center stack section below the wood..? Did you wrap the door caps as well? The 3m color you chose looks spot on..

What made you choose the Kahn lip spoiler versus the V collection part which seem much easier to install? I think the V collection lip spoiler is just held on with double sided tape and come ready to paint (or painted). I'm just curious as I'm shopping for one myself as I've given up on the idea of finding a second hand, reasonably priced DBS / DB9.2 trunk lid. It seems like a lot of work to fit the Kahn part and I'm wondering what made you decide on it.

Can't wait to see your car with the Virage sills.. Are those a direct bolt on fit?

Congrats on the car! Such a beauty!

Thanks! The cage indeed came out brilliantly and the color matches the truffle interiour nicely. As for the 3M wrap: no I did not cover the sterio facia. The facia colour nicely matches the 3M wrap. As for the door-caps: this was the only option the initial owner didn't tick the box for so they're nicely covered in blue leather.

I bought the lip (prior being a 6speed member) thus without the knowledge of Vcollection carrying such item as well. As for fitment: that proved a nightmare. It comes as a hollow mold and the bodyshop had it properly filled-up with resin to give it more strength. I had it put on using black Sikaflex 223. I was looking for a DBS-trunk as well but found the costs for it not worth it (though it will look better).

May plan to get the sills trial fitted this long weekend. Will make a thread for that

skeena river rove is infamous around these parts
I really like your mods! Very tasteful! Beautiful car!
The car looks brand new! You would think that the light color interior would get dirty and tatty after 11 years of usage. But it looks new!

Thanks. Apart from some door-handle corrosion and little corrosion/imperfections here and there the car is indeed in great nick for an 11 year old. The combination of colors made me decide to buy it on the spot after a 15 minute test-drive.
