First driving impressions of a Vantage V8S

Boy is this thing LOOOOOUUUUUUD!!!!

Forget it after the revs go past 4K. On the highway, I'm reaching for 6th gear as quickly as possible.

I know a rev limiter has been mention, but I've shot past that easily over the last weekend on a number of occassions.

But boy, every time I wind this thing up, I smile.

The suspension.... My thought is that the comfort suspension is too supple for my taste. In a sports car, I find it a little disconcerting when bodily roll comes in, even if a slight amount. Seems like the sport suspension would have been the better driving choice for me.

Well, those are my first thoughts. I took a few photos over the weekend. Can anyone recommend a site for hosting pictures? (Free)

I went for the comfort suspension as well. I figure 90-95% of my driving will be better suited to that.

You can also look into using PhotoBucket.

Thanks. Don't get me wrong the comfort suspension is not bad, it's just that I don't mind the harsher ride, which allows me to get a little more "bite" when driving hard. I have yet to really explore the limits of the engine and chassis, but so far I am having a blast.

I got stuck in NY traffic yesterday, and it was pleasant to see that quite a few people place a respective amount of distance between themselves and my beautiful car.

Another thing to get used to is the media event as I drive by, i.e.g, the cameras start rolling. This is something that I'll need to get used to.

Oh, did I mention that engine?

Yes the suspension is very soft but comfortable even with h&r springs. I am gonna try the nitron coilovers next year.

Follow-up on the break-in period.

I reached out to Aston Martin and they informed me that there's a section called "Driving Techniques", which is normally in section 5.2, or so. Off I go to read up on how to drive this car properly!

Jesus, it's loooooooud!!!!!

Terminal... I don't find my car to be too loud... Rather it's sublime like my "comfort suspension". The difference between my 2013 Vantage S and my 2007Vantage is that i felt the need to modify the '07 while the '13 is just perfect. It also performed really well at Lime Rock last month besting last years time by more than one second.

Vantage S at the annual AMOC Lime Rock time trial.

Curious about your experience driving your Aston around NY. I'm getting an apartment in Manhattan and toying with the idea of bringing my Aston out there, but I'm a little concerned about the bumper-car mentality of NYC drivers.

It looks like your are really enjoying the V8VS. I loved my 2007, but agree that it was best for me when modified. The current model offers so much more right out of the box.
