Vantage S gear skipping issue
Vantage S gear skipping issue
Has anyone here ever experience a gear skipping issue in manual mode? If so, what is the cause and cue for this? Thanks for the help in advance.
I had a hydraulic problem with my 7 speed sport shift. basically the fluid was low in the hydraulic system. as a result the pump was running more then normal. It overheated and faulted. the car would shift to neutral and show a generic gearbox fault.
turned out the system was leaking fluid into the main gearbox. we never had any outside leaks. the dealer replaced the entire unit and bled the system.
I don't think this is your problem but it's another data point.

Here's the clutch learn correct procedure...A/C can be on, does not need to be turned off..A/C only needs to be turned off for Misfire Corrections
V8V with 6-speed ASM:
1. Preferably with a cold engine, select NEUTRAL to illuminate the engine start
button.
2. Start the engine and allow it to idle while still in NEUTRAL for 10 seconds.
3. You will hear a 'click' from the underside of the vehicle as it does the check.
4. If the adaption has drifted due to heavy clutch use, up to three learns may be
required to bring it back into specification.
**If you have had the latest TCM update, when you first start the car while cold, your ECU docking station will be a dimmed light and the "N" button will not be lit, when the clutch is learnt the ECU docking station light will go brighter and the L.E.D for the "N" will turn on..this is just in case things are to loud and you can't listen for the "click" noise under the car**
For V8V 7-Speed ASM:
With the 7-speed, the vehicle does it's own clutch relearn. The clutch is learnt with in 8 seconds after a cold start. Just like the 6-Speed you should wait for the learnt to complete to prolong clutch life and helps avoid driveablility problems.
For Aug 2011 onwards builds the TCM is flashed with software that causes the "N" light to "blink" while a clutch learn is in "Learning" Mode", when the "N" button stops flashing and is lit your Good-To-Go, clutch has learnt.
**If you have a vehicle prior to Aug 2011 a dealer flash is ready for you and is actually a Service Action (SA-07-0209), the S.A is a speed sensor fault concern but is software related and part of the action is to update the TCM..which will update the "N" button to flash**
