How to remove center console (arm rest)'11 Vantage Roadster

Hi again y'all,

I have searched and searched and can't find a how-to thread on this....

I am changing my gear shift trim to carbon fiber. i see that it secures from below the center console.

I have an '11 roadster----with later style center arm rest. How do i get that out to allow me to get to the shifter trim?

I found the 2 screws under the rubber cup-holder mat----those loosen the front....

Where do i go from here?

THANKS!!!!

Smile

Remove the aluminum trim strip from the parcel tray behind the seats and you will expose the hardware to remove the console arm rest. Just work your way forward.

Thanks bwright!

I went out and re-looked at my car, I think your advice is right on for coupes, but not roadsters. The aluminum parcel strip doesn't go all the way across on the roadster. It breaks in the middle for the center/rear storage compartment. Here are some more pics.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

There is 2 more Torx 25 bolts at rear of jockey box lid (hidden under leather divot just behind the hinge) about a 2" x 4" rectangle that lifts out. Plastic tools are your friend to get it out so as not to nick the leather.

Sorry, I should have paid attention to your body style. From your photos though, you should be able to work yourself forward from this point. (at least that is how the coupe works.) Once the rear trim on the console is removed you should have access to all the remaining fasteners.

Thanks J doubleU,

See the pic below.....is this the piece you mean? I have plastic tools and put a pretty good pry on it and it doesn't want to give.....does it have clips (like the infamous stretched dash parts)? If so, I can get in there and pry a little harder.

Thanks for your input!!!

The piece just to the left and below in your photo. It is a u-shaped piece of plastic covered in leather. It just springs out.

XJRS and J doubleU, Thanks guys! That worked!!! Man, that rim piece was snug! With the help of two plastic trim tool/wedges, she surrendered. I would not have figured it out without your help!!

Don't tug it
Use a plastic trim tool to lever the front edge down and backwards
Hey presto!

This is correct. I have removed the center console to install a DBS shift **** and install the wiring for a front camera. The piece you need to remove is a curled piece that is in front of that sectioned pictured. It is curled and under tension so it needs to be pried out with a plastic tool. Not really difficult to do. It will reveal two additional screws that will need to be removed to free up the rear of the console.

This photo shows the leather panel removed, it is very difficult to remove. I used plastic trim tools and one broke with the force needed.

So I read this thread and gave it a try over the weekend. I have a 2007. My rear roll top has lost a bunch of slats. When I pulled up on the wood center counsel the back came up with some gentle pulling, but the rest of it seemed rock solid. I pulled, but the front portion did not budge. Am I doing this right? There is a seem right before it slopes up next to the ash tray. Is that a separate piece, or do I need to take the whole thing out including the vents and sloped area up to the arm rests?
