So the Vantage is going to get new rubber over the winter . Lots of choices out there . What are you guys using . The OE tires are Bridgestone Potenza .
Anybody have a good shopping spot in Canada for deals on good tires for a Vantage ? .
Im not tracking the car or driving in extreme weather , just a good performance summer tire for good weather .

 

OE RE050 tires are crap, no kind way of saying it.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports IMO are outstanding tires and many here have said so, too. I believe that they are available in OEM 19" sizes. Bridgestone RE11 are a stickier tire but may be overkill and a bit noisy if you aren't planning on tracking the car. Also, they would require a slight size change (I used to run them on my old V8V with no issues).

I usually use Tire Rack. Even back in the 90's when the dollar was low, I found Tire Rack's prices to be competitive. As well, they are well stocked (probably better than most places in North America), ship very quickly to the site of your choice (home, garage etc.) and charge everything (shipping, customs, duties) up front. The dollar has fallen again and it's possible you might be able to find a better deal within Canada - maybe someone else can chime in with a good Canadian source.

 

Seconded what spinecho said. A quick search will show a huge consensus in favor of the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. While I think there are OEM sizes available now, many people (myself included) opt for the +1 sizing, taking the front to 245 and the rear to 285 - I believe this is even the recommendation of the dealers now, too.

 

So whats the reasoning behind the upsizing ?

 

The wheels can easily take the extra 10mm of tire, and extra costs of the upsize are negligible. While it's not much, the extra width means more grip both front and rear.

 

Thanks for the tips guys , did some searching and these guys look like the best deals right now , better than Tire Rack with the CAN dollar being so crappy right now .

Not it Toronto . Ottawa here , not a whole lot of Aston owners in this city . Just looking for a good inexpensive supplier , I have access to fitting and balancing equipment just need the tires .

 

So after doing some searching there are 3 versions of the Michelin pilot super sport tire .
the pilot super sport , the AS3 and the run flat .
any input on the differences , experiences . are the run flats harder and much more noisy ?

 

If you want a great handling tire--but only for the summer (not good in Temperatures below about 40-degrees F) get the Pilot Super Sport. With that said, I have the AS3 on a 4-wheel drive Audi A6 and that provides very nice performance and in addition works well in the snow. The AS3 would be a better all around tire if you plan to drive your Aston in light snow or when it is really cold outside. I'd avoid the run-flat as I think they would not be a good "Performance" tire.

 

AFAIK there is only one version of PSS. Avoid run flats at all cost. They are horrible things - heavy, jarring ride and quick wearing.

 

Just an fyi... On the 15 mustang i just leased with wide 19" wheels i put pirelli snow tires on, i got for 1,162 usd mounted, and they are incredible in the snow and ice and dont make any noise.

 

The car will not be driven in snow and even rain will be avoided unless we just get caught out . The Vantage and my Healeys are all babied but I do like to drive them all in spring summer and fall so I think Im going to go with the AS3 unless I get convinced otherwise .
I agree about the run flats . My wifes BMW Z4 coupe has run flats and they are a hard ride for sure especially in cooler weather .
