Really makes working on my car fun. As everyone knows how difficult it is to get these things up in the air on jack stands. I opted for the jack that rolls on the inner rails underneath to allow lifting to remove the tires while on the lift. Great investment.. And now I have the room to "invest" in another car.. Thinking a Ferrari F355 would make a nice addition to the harem.

How high is your garage, looking to create a similar setup and I am not certain what the minimum height and width requirements are for such a lift.

 

Nice, How tall is your ceiling? Mine is 9'6", I wish it was 10' that way I could stand up under the cars and put a taller car under them. My one garage with the two racks is my older house. The other garage with the one rack is our new beach house. We did install a dehumidifier in the beach house garage. They both have 9 1/2 ' ceilings.

Thanks for the compliments! The garage has been a work in progress over the past couple of years but the lift was a real game changer.

My ceilings are 10' 6". I checked out many many different manufactures to find the unit that would fit in my space the best. Height is obviously the biggest consideration. With the lift I chose, I can raise it up to the very highest locking point for the most available space under the car. 65 inches from the bottom of the platform to the floor. My Infiniti SUV you see in the picture parked under the lift is 62" at the highest point. Careful measuring is critical to getting it right as it's very difficult to return one of these bad-boys as you can imagine. The lifting height and locking points of each manufacturer differ slightly so don't give up if the first unit you look at doesn't seem to work out. "Locking points" are something else to consider. Remember when looking at the maximum lifting height to consider that you have to have the ceiling height to lift an inch or so past that height to be able to set the locking point. I hope that makes sense??

The other nice thing about this style lift is you don't have to bolt it to the floor. As a matter of fact mine came with a caster kit to easily be able to roll it around the garage. That actually worked better than I expected. A really nice touch.

Thanks for the insight. The other issue I will need to resolve is the way my garage door opens, needs to open taller for this setup. More research required!

Best investment I ever made in the garage ....besides the toys of course . but the garage is getting crowded with these two and 3 Healeys

 

I had the same issue , had to go to a direct mount opener . It mounts on the wall and turns the spring pole directly . You also need to change the tracks so the door goes vertically as high as possible before turning close to the ceiling .
It wasn't cheap but it was the only solution so I could have a lift with the up and over door .

 

Thankfully I was able to position the lift between the tracks and the opener so that wasn't an issue.

Don't forget to take into account the lift in the raised position with the garage door open. I was able to make an adjustment to the opener to limit how far the door opened so I didn't have to concern myself with it contacting the car when in the raised position. Seems like an obvious consideration but it almost screwed me as I woke up in a cold sweat when it dawned on me.. :/
