A different kind of performance question...

Most of the performance questions here are about extracting more from the sharp edges of our cars: acceleration, braking, handling, top speed, sound, appearance, ergonomics, entertainment, etc., beyond that which came from the factory.
But what are the top enhancements that can improve the reliability of Aston Martins? I'm not talking about basic maintenance, but rather asking what we should change/replace/upgrade to ensure that our cars start when we ask them to, stop when they should, and run like they were intended to run every mile in between?

there are a few problems, but nothing widespread / repeatable, so much preventative maintenance is unnecessary. I would say all that is needed is annual inspection at service by trained eye.

Use a Battery Maintainer in between each time you use the Car, or at least if it is going to go unused for a week or so. Check your Oil level at least every 2,000 miles or so.

Good thread idea!
As the car gets older a clean of the throttle butterfly helps idle and prevent some error codes IME

There's not a great deal specific to Aston that doesn't apply to all cars. Like most modern cars, they do suck a fair bit of juice when sitting so a battery tender is a must if your Aston might go for a while without being driven.

A lot of people like to switch to a low-dust pad like the Porterfield R4-S in order to keep wheel cleaning to a minimum. Not a maintenance issue per se, but certainly keeps wheel cleaning frequency down.

For a DB9, check that your dipstick reads 4G4E-6750-AC to make sure you have the shorter one in place. A 2006 I *think* is after the switchover but not 100% sure. Easy enough to check. The V12 does use a bit of oil.

I would add regular and proper use of any mechanical device.
Proper warm up and running, no short trips where you shut the car off before it is up to operating temp.
Proper driving as well and that means not lugging the motor around and trying to apply heavy throttle at low engine speeds.
Regardless of how well you maintain any vehicle, using it as it was designed is an important part of long term reliability.
