Fuel range for AMV8V

Hi everyone,

Not a complaint (we did buy ourselves a sports car), just curious since I'm new to v8 vantage ownership:

How many miles are you getting per full tank of gas?

My gas light came on after driving 214 miles. I filled back up at 16gallons. That comes out to around 13mpg! Is this normal?

I was mainly a Porsche guy before: Cayenne Turbo gets 15mpg and my 997S got around 18-19mpg.

Please share.

Depends entirely on how you're driving. All highway gets me 20-22 mpg. When I romp on it, that number drops significantly. My readout usually sits around 13-14 mpg.

Yes, I confess: I floor it and run the gears to redline

It looks like I'm not alone!

My avg mpg is about 12.2 mpg. A little sad because I drive like a grandma (or not???). When I was in 6th gear doing about 70 ish the instantaneous mpg told me I was doing about 18/19 mpg.

I see 14.5/22 (city/hwy) but have seen single digits with spirited driving.

13mpg city.... with some highway mixed in... 18mpg hwy at 80mph. And FL roads are FLAT.

How a small-ish 4.3L sucks this much gas... no clue.

I suppose it wouldn't be exotic if it was economical...

I'm pretty sure the 4L V8 in my E92 M3 is quite a bit worse than the 4.7L in my Vantage. But then again, I don't really pay close attention to fuel mileage. Not exactly a priority in my car choices. I do recall that my 997 C2S was miserly compared to any of the cars I have now.

It's a 20gal tank IIRC, so don't know why the light would come on with 4 gallons left? I usually get between 12 and 14mpg city or spirited driving and on my last highway trip averaged about 18-20 cruising at ~75.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone.

Based on what I'm seeing with all your posts, it looks like my fuel range and mileage are "normal".

I just wanted to be sure I didn't have a fuel leak or something wrong.

Perhaps Stuart at Velocity AP can chime in here about the ECU reflash?
