Recently I was lucky enough to purchase a dream car that I have wanted for some time. Traditionally a Jag guy, this will be my first Aston. Previously I have owned the 4.2 XK, 4.2 XKR, and 5.0 XKR.
I looked at 4 cars before selecting this one. Although not everyone’s cup of tea, I think the color combination is spectacular. A real California car... Coincidentally, it’s the identical color combination as my last XK which I adored (including the factory chrome wheels which the dealer insists were a factory option?)
I am currently awaiting delivery on my 2005 DB9 coupe, Celeste Blue on Truffle / Sandstorm. The car has 33380k miles, and was purchased at Aston Martin of Newport Beach. I was provided full maintenance records on the car, and it has had all of its regular services. It is a one owner car. It has the 950W Linn, but no NAV! Fine by me... No steering controls whatsoever.
Condition is great for the exception of the driver side floor mat, which is a little stained. I have not decided whether to order a new set in sandstorm, or black.
I do not put a lot of miles on my sports cars, so I am not too concerned about mileage. After searching this forum, I enquired about the shorter dipstick and tranny cooler issues. Both are addressed. The dealership also replaced all the tires, brakes, and completed a full service on the car.
I really appreciate keeping a special car like this oem/prestine, so I do not have many modifications for the car planned. I would like to install the factory Ipod integration kit, and possibly a nice SS exhaust. I also need to get rid of that stupid front plate mount. In FLA we don’t use those ugly things... I am sure there are holes under it though.
Car will be leaving Newport Beach, for my Florida home in Daytona Beach next week.
Does anyone recognize the car?
Any comments, advice and suggestions are appreciated. This forum has already become valuable for me during the purchasing process.
Congratulations! Great looking car -- I love the color combination
Front plate should come off without a problem -- hopefully you got the paint colored disk that covers the tow hook hole which the plate mount attaches to.

Enjoy
Please report back if you manage to get the front plate off without disassembling the font end It was non-obvious to me. I too have an '05 DB9 and want to removed the front plate...
I did manage to remove the wart-like plastic rear plate lights, and replace them with the cleaner trunk-lip european style.

Front plate holder is only attached by the tow hook "keeper bolt" accessible once you remove the plate itself. But IIRC it's got an opposite thread orientation.
Would love to know details about how you swapped the rear plate holder for the much more attractive european version.
Congratulations! May you enjoy it in good health and be blessed with limited traffic.
There are probably a couple of dozen Aston Martin in the greater Daytona area - we’re a small but handsome group… or so I’d imagine.
If you’ve not interacted with them yet, the Orlando dealer's service department is an absolute joy; we’re blessed to have them nearby. If you’re one who prefers to use an independent mechanic, I’d be glad to provide you with the contact info for a Port Orange based "mechanical wizard”.
YVR - The tow hook disk is long gone. I would think it is something I can order. Paint matching the disk to 10 year old paint might be tricky. Most likely there are also scratches from the mount vibrating on the nose, unless there is foam underneath?
Bubba - Great to hear that you guys are local! I plan on taking the car to Millenia to fit the Ipod integration. I have been communicating with Matt in the parts department, he is in the process of ordering the necessary parts. Although I thought the kit only fit 2006 and up, he said that it would work. Perhaps they will replace a portion of the head unit. The car doesn't have any steering wheel controls whatsoever, so not too sure how that will work.
