Extended Warranty

It's my understanding that you can purchase a factory extended warranty on a low mileage used Vantage that passes their rigorous examination.
Can anyone tell me how much this costs and how long it lasts and what exclusions there are?
Thanks
Alan

FYI, my dealer included the extended warranty inspection at no extra cost during my 3 year annual service .
Caveat emptor...

$3700 is what I was quoted for one additional year for a 2012 vantage s. This includes the inspection fee $550 I believe.

I have been trying to get information from my dealer but so far no good. Is it correct that the factory extended warranty for cars over 5 years is not available in the US?
Thanks
Alan

The dealer just got back with me and 24 month Factory Extended warranty is $7420 but requires a $540 multi point inspection.

That money can go a long way toward any potential problems you might have during that time. Just put the money in an interest=bearing account instead, or buy some Apple stock

To some it might sound stupid to get the extended warranty, but in August my current extended warranty is up - I'll likely either trade for newer or extend the warranty another 2 or 3 years even though the brakes and clutch which will probably need replacing in that period will be another $8,000 or so. Just the piece of mind is worth the warranty. On the other hand if I take a chance, the money could be used for a bit of performance upgrades (headers, cats, etc.) - I'll probably take the safe route - the warranty extension, you never know when you get a lemon in the waiting.

Tomorrow I take my Vantage in to get checked out (the Factory warranty is over on Wednesday). With the inspection a two year extension is $8,000+/-. What concerns me is that they told me that the Warranty Policy has changed and that for the Warranty to be Transferable to another owner, the car MUST be traded to an authorized Aston Dealer! Thus a private sale warranting a higher price because of the existing warranty is no longer a valid reason to purchase the extended warranty.

I have 43,000 trouble free miles on the car.

Opinions? Advice? Just get 1 extra year for $5K?

Interesting. I just listed my car for sale. I was considering trading it in but was told by the AM dealership (not my own who initially added the warranty) that it would lose the extended warranty unless I sold it privately. Guess I will have to double check tomorrow.

You are correct that the warranty goes and follows the car if you have an existing warranty as I do. But what I was told was that the policy had changed if I extend the warranty again, which doesn't make much sense.I did get a chance to read what was covered under the warranty and by the time you add up all the parts that are excluded there is much left except for maybe the engine block, pistons, and cam!!

That's how I understand it. If you sell private party the warranty will transfer. When you trade in or sell to a AM dealer it cancels the paid for warranty. Although you the seller can get a refund for warranty time not used. Meaning a pro- rated return on the investment that you the seller already paid.

almost 2 years ago i was on the fence. Even put the order for the 2 year extended on my 08 Vantage.

SOOOOO glad I didnt get it. The only thing that I have an issue with was a top motor was leaking and required $1100 to fix.

I agree with Karl...just invest that 8k in something else. I highly doubt you will need 8k worth of items in that car.

Would have ben almost $7k down the trash!

I agree, but if you have to sell the car within the warranty. It will put it on top of the list for resale value and to expedite a sale. I'm having the dealer check the new policy and I'll make my decision later

Here is what I found out today: The extended warranty ONLY transfers to a new owner if the car is sold through an Aston Martin Dealer pretty much making the already questionable deal absolutely suck. In addition my mirror on the drivers side does not work right, not a huge deal, but when they said it will be $1,600 and I said I have a warranty, they said, well, we will check to see if it's covered! If it was a Ford Fiesta with an extended warranty, no question it would be covered. In the morning I'll know.
