2005 DB9 vs 2006 Vantage V8

which is a better cruiser/road trip car. something that will be driven on road trips and highways, dinner or events. No tracking, etc

Vantage has a 6 speed, DB9 has the auto, both have same miles

I love my vantage, but if road trips were my thing, i might consider the db9 at least to look at.

I'm a bit biased and prefer the DB9. The V12 is such a magnificent piece of art in how it looks, revs and sounds. The noise the V12 makes is like having your own symphony orchestra at your finger tips. Every car enthusiast should at least experience v12 ownership at least once in their life. Plus, the DB9 was Aston's flagship at the time, so its nice knowing your driving the best of the best from that time period.

Agreed with the other posters, especially given your stable of smaller sports cars. I'd go with the DB9 to have a true GT car.

Can't say I've driven either (hard to lock one down in Massachusetts) but based on my research and all the magazine/video comparisons the DB9 seems much more like a proper GT than a sports car, though it can certainly perform, too! The Vantage seems like a more sporting, better handling car but it always comes off as the "baby" Aston, much like the Cayman is the better-handling but "baby" Porsche. When it comes time to replace my 911 I hope I can replace it with a DB9, and dare I say it *gasp* I might not even mind the automatic transaxle, as long as my other car is manual.

The vantage is very fun to drive but the DB9 would be more comfortable. So what do you prefer more?

Most likely the DB9, based on what you've said. It should be more comfortable and a better cruiser. The V8V is a better choice if you want something nimble to throw around.

DB9 all the way from described.. Just both cars are prone to leaks around the timing cover of those years. I'd get a certified inspection on both and then tally up the pros and cons of what might be required before jumping the gun..

My recommendation would be to listen to whatever recommendation irish07 offers because there are very few people on this forum who are more qualified than him.

Vantage if it is a Roadster--all that fresh air! But I live in Africa where the sun lives!
Otherwise the V12 would be a better cruiser.
