I thought my sub was bad when I turn the music up and it rattled like crazy. I was taking every thing apart to replace the sub and realized the package tray/parcel shelf rattles. Cant tell where the noise is coming from. Does anyone know how its attached by the back glass? I image I'm going to have to remove all of the rear interior trim to take it out.

 

Yup, pretty much everything has to come out, starting with rear seat bottoms & seat backs. Workshop manual will help.

It's not attached to the rear glass at all -- it just rests on a bit of a lip.

 

I have had it apart too many times. Glad they use velcro. I just couldn't see what held it in place by the back glass. Well I guess it will be a good time to tint the back glass. Nothing fits well. It seems as though the panels have shrunk. The center one with the brake light won't fit down in the shelf, almost like it is too wide.

 

Actually, check your subwoofer mount. I bet it's cracked. This is a known problem with 05-06 DB9's. When you remove the subwoofer from the metal frame it is ussually cracked in the 5:00 position. This happened on my DB9 as well as on a friends DB9. I was told by the dealer they used a different design starting with the 2007 model year. I had my crack repaired by having it welded by a local shop and the rattle is now gone. This would be the first thing I would check before removing that rear shelf.
