V12V Wheel/Tire Setup for Max Traction

Hello 6speeders,

I'm in the market for a V12V here in a couple months. I'm currently on deployment (military lad) but once I get back the play time shall begin. I'm going to be doing a V12 build around 600-650bhp so traction will become important. I'm wanting to do HRE P101s 20x?. That being said, what is the largest wheel size I can cram into the back on the V12V and still be able to lower on coil overs. Can I fit a 20x12 wheel under the rear fender? I don't mind doing light modifications, if need be, to fit more tread. I'd likely run R888 or NT01s so those tire sizes are important to me. For example, the R888s only come in 315/30ZR20 for a 20"wheel and that is what I would like to fit in the rear if possible.

I haven't introduced myself yet, but I've been in the car community for many years. I used to own a 900whp EVO and it is time to get something with a bit more class. I've done a lot of one off projects and maybe down the road I may turn the V12V into a GT racing car. But for now, It will be a weekend fun car. Wife is looking at getting a GTR but I'm trying to get her to hold out to see what the new R36 will look/be like. Anyway, greetings!

Thanks for the read. I may have more questions going forward. I'm just pre-building so that once I get back to the states I can drop my AMEX. lol

Thanks for the post. Do you have any rub with the 11/305s? maybe I could get away with 11.5/315s. I'm working with HRE right now, so we will see what they say.

I have zero rub. I was thinking the same thing. Also if you look at the way my tires wrap around the 11s the 315 might fit on them...

Be sure to consider other wheels than HRE. I always wanted a set, purchased them and I am highly underwhelmed. There are many other solutions out there for far less money and products just as good.

Have fun with your project!

Thanks. Yeah and if I did 11.5 w/315s the tires should fit very similar to what your 11w/305s. 11.5 wheels w/ the same 47 offset would be 6.3mm closer to the strut and 6.3mm closer to the edge of the fender. The question would be in that would fit.

I've looked at MORR wheels. They have a set that looks very similar (copy) of the P101s. I'm not sure if they are monoblock or what they cost. I need to read more into them but sadly their website doesn't work on my government computer! lol

Curious. What is it that underwhelms?

Karl,

Since you have asked

underwhelms =

I am currently attempting to have an issue resolved with a surprising lack of concern or response. (I don't think it is appropriate to get into the details at this time on an open forum)

Also - I own and have seen forged wheels that are just as well made with finishes just as good for less money and provide better customer service to this point.

just my opinion - I am sure others might see differently -

These should provide some traction, but might rub a bit on the fenders:

For the money you cannot beat Forgestar. They are as light (and in some cases even lighter) than fully machined forged wheels.

The only downside is their styles are limited. If you run them though you cannot run Michelin PSS by the sidewalls will stick out at the lowest offset possible. For my next Aston I think I will do the CF10s again, but just be forced to run Pirelli Corsas, as they have the best shaped sidewalls and will not stick out nearly as much.

I ran 255/305 MPSS on my previous set of Forgestars and the sidewalls literally added an additional 10mm to the width of the tire which I had not anticipated for so it threw the look off quite a bit. For my next set I will run 265/305 Corsas to minimize front corner entry understeer to a minimum. You really don't need more than 305s if you run super sticky rubber.

I'm not sure how different the vantage is from a DB9/S platform as far as rear tire room but when we were building my wheels we could have gone with a 14.76" wide tire which was a 375 with no issues mounted on a 21x13.5 rim. Ended building a 12.5 rear to go with a 325 as the 375 tire is discontinued. I could have ran a 355/25 on the 12.5 but that side wall would have been way to tall for my application so we went 325/25/21.

375/20/21 tire is 14.76" wide
355/25/21 tire is 13.98" wide
325/25/21 tire is 12.8" wide

Hope this somewhat helps, i know its not vantage specific. Any good wheel shop can get you exact measurements and suggest a perfect offset for your wheel builder.

My god those are massive wheel wells lol. After a certain point you are just inducing more understeer though. But for looks I am sure it looks damn impressive
