V8 Vantage backfire

I run my car with 95 octane unleaded, I have the exhaust valves open all the time (f22 out) I find when im driving like a girl and i change gears that there is small backfire during gear change 6 speed manual, like a little bark burble thing but very audible.

is this something I need to be worried about? the car runs fine

What country are you in? Are you talking 95 AKI or 95 RON octane rating?

I get the same, only when I do early upshift like a grandma I get a tiny back fire. I think its normal, it happens on my previous car too. I think it has something to do with shifting at a rpm where there is not enough torque but the engine is feeding a lot of fuel and the excess that gets dumped when you lift gets lit up by the hot exhaust.

I had the same thing with my V8VR, always at the same corner. Discovered it happened only when I was changing down at low revs. I rather liked it, made me feel like a renegade - but I don't think the neighbors appreciated my James Dean moment.
