When I was searching for my Vantage I found a car with a very similar mark on the leather . It's probably from the PO having a cell phone or a gun holster or something like that on their belt . I sent the pics of the damage to a local leather restorer . He told me he would have no problem fixing it matching it and with further wear and he was using a refinishing technique not replacing leather .
. I didn't buy the car in the end but not because of the leather issue .
I would shop around and go to see some professional leather restorers . Even if you try it and it cost say 300$ for a repair and later on it does eventually come back your only out the 300$ . Seems like a cheap try before going all out on recovering the entire seat and it not matching the other one .
I have seen some of the work done by the leather restorers at car shows etc and if you can find a good one then a repair should be the way to go .

Let's ft this thread going again.

I haven't looked any further into this other than talking to AMBits but would love to hear of some options

I do loooove the quilted leather that came out on later models. Would the factory quilted covers of the later models fit an 09? Part numbers anyone?

Just for kicks, Try the Leatherique combination on the seats, or just that side bolster first. Really, Really work the oil into it using gloves and do it by hand. You can first use a hair dryer to soften the leather and open the pores. Then liberally apply the oil part by hand and work it in.

NOW---- really use the hair dryer and get the leather to soak it in, keep adding more. I will apply the product this way, then put the car outside with windows up in 100 degree weather for 1-2 days. Then bring inside and remove with the second product the oil part. Leatherique is amazing and will work some wonders. It might, just might clean and condition it up well enough to not worry about it any more till you drop the money to recondition with the quilted pattern. Worth trying at least.

That's correct. The leather is supplied to Aston Martin by Bridge of Weir in Scotland.

I recently bought 5 complete hides of Obsidian Black from BOW. Absolutely spot on match complete with that amazing smell we all can't live without.

I only need 3 of these hides it turns out so if any of you guys are in need of a couple hides, I can probably help you out. Just for reference, my upholstery shop is able to recover both seats and both door cards with 2 of these hides as they are a really good size. I'm doing the diamond quilted stitching on the seats, door cards and rear storage area in my DBS.

Good to know how many hides it takes. I was looking at 4- but glad that your clarified how many. Do you mind me asking what the materials set you back?

The colour I'm after is what they refer to as moon shadow.

With respect to the diamond quilting that you refer to, do you mean diamond or "hourglass" stitching that seems to be on the vanquish.

This particular stitch pattern:

The hides were incredibly reasonable actually. I believe around $400 each plus shipping. I was shocked by how inexpensive they were. I'm trying to find hides for my Ferrari 360 right now from Italy and they're quoting me 2 grand each!

I don't really care for the hourglass style stitching personally. I'm doing the diamond quilted stitching like what was done on the headliner on the early Vanquish and many of the early DBS's got this treatment as well. I think it looks fantastic in the DBS.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I wanted to share something else I'm working on.

In addition to the leather work I've slowly acquired replacements for the aluminum bits in the interior of my DBS. My plan is to have all the hvac/stereo control ***** as well as the aluminum vent surrounds, Ash tray lid, shift **** and surround all refinished to a matching "polished" finish. The hardest part of this was the "joystick" piece as it cannot be had from Aston Martin as a single piece but instead is part of the stereo fascia (crazy expensive). On top of that nobody at my dealer or anywhere else could tell me if the joystick can be taken apart to allow access to just the aluminum bezel and ****.

With some persuading, I was able to AMbits to sell me just the joystick part finally but they didn't know how to disassemble it either to get the plastic guts separated from the above mentioned aluminum. So I just got busy studying it and was able to figure out the whole thing is held together with a single roll pin finally.

Obviously I didn't want to start tearing my car apart to refinish my original parts so everything that will be replaced will be spares acquired. I never do a modification that can't be "un-done". So this way I can reinstall my original pieces should it be necessary (not likely as I'll be buried in my DBS

Some of these photos inspired me to take this on. The copper is just gorgeous but I don't think it suits my DBS. I just never really liked how many different "finishes" there are on the aluminum interior bits. Nothing seems to match as they obviously designed these parts to fit in many different types of interior trim designs from Carbon to Walnut. I think it'll look really clean and modern with everything matching and mirror polished. This is my big winter project and I've been able to locate a company specializing in delicate metal polishing and anodizing to work with on the project.

I'll definitely post a thread with a tutorial on the removal etc of all these parts. There's also a couple pictures here of me getting the joystick apart.. I can promise you that this is the only picture on the Internet of this.. Lol. Believe me.. I scowered far and wide.

Apologizes again for the long winded post.

Looks great!! Do post pics when the jobs complete.

Did you use the contact details provided on the website? Did they sell directly or did you have to go through an "authorised" agent?

Make sure you remove the screw driver from your back pocket...

Guess I’ll try a multi-step process. Clean, dye, clean, condition, and condition some more.
