Drivers window glass problem
Drivers window glass problem
2007 Vantage v8, I just noticed that the drivers window glass slightly touches the rear fixed window when I close the drivers door. The drop down feature works, however it seems that the glass is slightly too far back. Resetting the window glass changes nothing. Before I remove the door panel and poke around, is it possible that whatever holds the glass is not secure?
Yes, pull the panel and poke around. You need to check the window regulator mounting screws (2) to glass. Make sure the window is adjusted and tighten, but not too tight. Windows are prone to breaking, if not torqued correctly. If you're a gambling man give it a try.
Thanks for the reply. This weekend I will pull the panel and see what gives
I removed the door panel ( thanks Irish and others for the instructions) After removing a plastic plug I was able to see the screw that holds the side of the glass furthest from the hinges. You have to stop the window it the exact spot that the screw is visible. To do this I had to remove the window switch control from the panel and plug it into the harness. It's somewhat tedious as you have to get the window glass exactly where you want it by repeatedly positioning the glass, then closing the door to make sure it where it should be, then stopping it at the location where the screw is visible. Once I was satisfied I applied some thread locker to the screw and hand tightened it with torx screwdriver. Interestling, I might have to do the same thing with the passenger window.
This is quite embarassing...
I was attempting to adjust the regulator on my door, and I somehow managed to crack my window. A new window costs around 500 from the dealer. I was able to source a used one online, does anyone know if the part differs between a coupe and convertible? I'm assuming it does.
I found one online and am unsure if it fits a coupe or convertible.
Does anyone have any ideas? http://www.ebay.com/itm/231643589448

What do you have? I know you don't want to break another, so $500 from a dealer + labor may not be a bad idea?

That rounded rear shape of the window looks identical to the shape of the window on my roadster. Could be wrong, but I think the coupes have a more angular cut, so I think this window that you posted is for a roadster.

Do a serch. Check Redpants as well for videos. If I remember correctly it’s not that difficult once you know what to do,
