Heads up: if your still snowed in, might be worth it to soak the EGR feed pipe nuts with WD40 at the manifold.. This way by the time your shop gets at them to be removed..less chance of being seized, when seized can take forever to remove
Such a load of SH*T, I only sent 48, I knew at least 2 of the answers already.

My project has been delayed due to sub-zero temperatures and very salty roads. Had to put the car into different storage, probably won't install the clutch until late March or early April. Bummer.

is that tool from Aston critical for proper installation? Dont even try without access to that tool? Can you get it anywhere other than from Aston Martin?

Clutch is about to go soon.

Thanks

Regarding the special tool, I don't think it's crucial, my independent shop owner and his head mechanic looked at the photos of the tool and of it being used and looked at my new clutch and flywheel and said no problem. They said that many performance and race cars they work on have dual disc clutches and they all have to be compressed for proper installation. I trust them but it will be a while before they can be put to the test.

Something like this should work. I'm going to try it out on the car we have in the shop. If it works we may buy a couple and loan them out.

But there are lots of shops, race shops, indys who do exotics who have compression tools that are often adjustable/universal.

The Aston Tool is $1400.

Flywheel attaching bolts - 8
Half-shaft flange bolts - 12
Manifold-cat gaskets - pair
Manifold-cylinder head gaskets - pair
Pilot bearing
Rear main crankshaft oil seal.

Jeff-curious as to why you ordered new Half-Shaft and Flywheel bolts, can they not be reused?

Irish-Did you reuse both sets of bolts during install? If not, do you have the sizes I need to order? Thanks!

Workshop manual says those bots should be replaced, not reused. They are not expensive, maybe $40? if I recall correctly.

The half shaft bolts are AM part # 4G43-CD60-AD, they are M10x1.25 socket head bolts.

I'm not sure about the flywheel bolts, they depend on the year of your car. My parts are at the shop so I can't look at what it says on the package. My invoice just has them listed as flywheel bolts.

My car finally went into the shop today to have the clutch and headers installed. It will probably take a few weeks, my guy wants to take his time since although he's done many transaxle cars this is the first Aston clutch he's done. He predominantly works on Ferraris and I trust him to do a quality job. He also said he will not charge me for his learning experience, initial estimate is $1500 for the labor, which is 12 hours at his normal rate. I told him I don't need the car back until late April so we'll see how it goes.

LOL, unfortunately no written estimate! That's for the clutch and header install. He said his first guess was $1500, didn't say how many hours but that is 12 at his normal rate. I told him I would not get worried until the bill hit $2000 and then if it went higher well, what could I do? He's not busy now because it's winter and not many exotics are on the road in Wisconsin this time of year.

Also, remember these are big American dollars not those little Canadian dollars
