What you think if I change the wheel color to dark silver or gun metal? I want to get that aggressive look, still not there yet. Not sure whats missing.
I appreciate your help.
My suggestion would be to go with something like I posted a couple of pictures ago. Once again, the "aggressiveness" is obtained in the lettering of the tires.
If you paint just the outside of the wheel, replacing only the red, I think you'd have a truly unique killer wheel. I chose the dark gray for my car, not only because it's NOT BLACK (even the guy who powder coated my wheels thanked me for not picking black - they were really tired of black) but because it's closer to the color of brake dust (wink, wink).
Here's a curious thing. If you want to study contrasts, look at these:
If your car were gray (non-metallic) it could easily pull off the red wheel look. In fact, I really like it.
On the other hand, once you go to a metallic color like Meteorite Silver, it gets a little trickier. It can still pull off the look but the metallic finishes of the body start to compete with the wheels. What do you think?

Oh My.. Now that I see it, i see what you mean. It's a killer with grey car & red wheels combo. So if I go with gray or dark silver wheel face & same color calipers that will give me what I'm going after.
Who did your wheels, calipers & tire paint work?
My wheels were done here in Las Vegas by a company called 6651 Customs, a young guy who really does a good job. A friend took his car there in the morning and the car was done by the afternoon- wheels removed, tires removed, wheels stripped and defects fixed, powdered, baked, tires remounted and balanced, and wheels back on the car.
$100/wheel
He even painted the center caps to match flawlessly.

Thats great price for what they did. it's almost tempting to drive from LA. Maybe I can ship it to them. i have a guy here in LA, but not sure if they can do 2 tone powder coat. what about the tire, did you use a pen to paint the tire?
The lettering on the tires are temporary stickers that I got from tirestickers.com. They're so thin, they look like they're painted on. They were only $60 for the set and I bought them to see if I'd like to put permanent stickers on. I think I will.
I'm sure SoCal has a many more powder coating companies but you could call 6651 Customs to see if they can do the work for you. After all, who couldn't use an excuse to go to Vegas?
Make the calipers pop or make them disappear, not in-between.
My personal taste doesn't favor the colored wheels. But with the investment you've made so far, I guess you should maximize what you have. The dark gray or black just kills the caliper and the whole wheel. Consider a very light silver on the calipers. That way you get the little highlight effect that painted calipers can give.
Otherwise, dark gray (not black) wheels and bright (red?) calipers always look best.
Someone who is better at searching than me should pull up pics of Double Low seven's Volcano Red V8VS. He nailed aggressive Volcano Red. Every detail was right.
And yes, Smogclinic, if you're willing to do it, make your wheels dark gray (Anthracite was a color option on '07 and '08 Vantage wheels) and your calipers can stay red or go to light silver.
DO NOT paint your wheels black. It will render them boring and totally not aggressive. The tire lettering may be a nice touch but it won't change your wheel color. The lettering works well when there's not much other visual noise going on in the wheel well. If you have bright calipers and lettering to match in an otherwise dark wheel well, that can look great. But add any more color or highlights and you'll have a cluttered mess.
As I recall, he had transparent gray tint sprayed onto the wheels to darken them. Note the gloss black calipers. You could certainly go darker but then you'd want the caliper to pop more.

Appreciate all your help on this project. I know what you mean. I invested few $$$ on painting the wheels, but result are not what I was going after. Now I'm leaning towards painting the wheels again & see how the calipers look.
I'm thinking painting them dark silver or some kind of grey, but it's challenging. Does anyone out there have software that I can use to play around with colors.
Like to see it first how they will look before I get them painted/powder coated.
