I have a 2010 dbs, and recently the amplifier died on me, dealer did there best but no use and a replacement is required. They quoted me around $10K, isn't that a bit steep? and is there any way I can look at other options or find a scrap/used piece? warranty is over. Thank you

 

check on AM Bits, they usually have one.

 

AM absolutely kills their customers on parts. I swear it's part of a strategy to keep new buyers from keeping their cars once the warranty expires, so they will purchase another new one.

 

Wow, $10k!! That's more than the B&O option is new. I know there is labor involved but just ... Even after 5 years of ownership, I still get shocked by what AM charges for parts.

 

I would start doing your research on your local, even semi local, stereo shops. I happen to have a great shop around Charlotte NC that I'm very confident in. But for 10k you can replace every speaker with top notch drivers and very good amplifiers, as well as a dsp and have them tune it. I spent a little more than 10k on my bmw m6, but that car will make a b&o system sound like a sony walkman. just food for thought

 

Check with B&O direct. Most audio companies have a service dept or a service center(s) that can repair their equipment.

 

Which amp is it? B&O system has two. DSP amp and main amp. DSP amp is black rectangular with a fan on the top, main amp is silver with rounded ends.

 

Check aston martin bits....they are selling the B&O amps in the $2100 range.
