I went to the map menu and the new maps were not displayed. All I had were the two that came with the car:
CN North America NT 2014.20 3d and CN North America NT 2014.20
For some reason the new maps don't see to be detected. I also tried following the instructions in the Piston Heads forum Free OpenStreetMap maps on Garmin Sat Navs - Page 1 - Aston Martin - PistonHeads UK . I created a Garmin map file with for the western US and copied the files onto a 64 GB SD card (the card was way bigger than I needed). That file also wasn't detected. Very strange.
That did occur to me. I've tried three different SD cards and they all click into place. I hope that it isn't a bad box that just can't read SD cards. My hope was that there was some magic that I could invoke in a menu somewhere to get the nav system to look for files on the card. Hopefully I'm not the only person that has had this problem and someone else has already solved it.

I update mine quite frequently on my Virage from 'free' sources on the Internet.
The only things to note are that you should have a directory called GARMIN in the root of your SD card and the image file inside that should be called GMAPSUPP.IMG (both case sensitive, I believe).
I also have a file called GMAPSUPP.UNL but that doesn't get updated.
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately changing the directory and file names to all upper case didn't resolve the problem. I'm beginning to think that the SD card reader in my GPS unit in the trunk is broken. Thanks again for the info.
Well I'm stumped. I bought the Garmin City Navigator for North America as others have done above, plugged the SD card into the Nav unit in the trunk of my, new to me, 2015 V8 Vantage and the nav system didn't see it. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help, Jim Veres. 2015 V8 Vantage in Seattle
Hi, Did you get your SD card issue sorted out?
I just installed the 2026 Cnav North American NT SD card and the same issue - only shows the factory maps.
I'm wondering if i have to get a dealer to update the system files 1st (they are old)?
I have a 2013 DB9
Software Version 3.20

I use a smart mirror with Apple Car Play instead of the cars map
I have a 2011 V8 Vantage and instead of the pop-up screen, for $150 (and $500 install of the wiring and reverse cam) I use my CarPlay maps - these mirrors include the dash ca and other features. I use Google Maps and Waze
I was able to create an SD card with Open Street Maps that worked in my Garmin (2016 Vanquish). Maybe try that to confirm whether your Garmin SD is actually working?

Also, cheap knock off SD cards are problematic. Only buy quality brand name ones like sandisk and kingston.
I purchased my SD Card from The GPS Store.
Its on an 8Gb card, I didn't check the file format but I did have a look at the file contents and it seems to match what has been mentioned above.
I also just purchased the 2026 Garmin maps SD card from the GPS Store. Very straightforward install and the car recognized it immediately (2015 V12VS)
Interesting...
I bought the 010-11551-01 maps. My SD card slot was empty. I installed it, went to the maps/info screen and it is not listed. Tried it with the key in position 2 and also running.
If you don't mind me asking... What versions of software do you have?
