Dropping a 2015 Boxster for a 2009 DBS
Hello,
I'm a newbie car enthusiast, I currently have a 2015 Porsche Boxster and looking it to trade it for a 2009 DBS + $20K premium.
The DBS has a mileage of 30,000. I've always loved Aston Martins and I'm looking for a change. Is this considered high mileage? Is it a bad deal?

high mileage... I guess that's relative. 30k over 6 years sounds very reasonable. Mine has just done 40k in 11 years.. Just make sure it has a sounding maintenance history with Aston Martin dealer(s) or known specialists. And have an independent specialist to do a pre-purchase inspection.
It's not about wear and tear, it is about value. A DBS with 30K is a LOT of miles, on a Vantage not so much. The higher up in the Aston line up you go, the less miles you expect to see for a given age. Yearly mileage is generally inversely proportional to MSRP for exotic cars. Of course that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of exceptions, but then those exceptions are worth less.

FWIW, if you plan to actually drive the car, which you should, 30k miles shouldn't matter, and may actually be a good thing as it ensures seals are kept lubricated and all the little items that may need fixing should have already been identified and corrected.
The only reason 30k would matter is you plan on putting it on a shelf as an investment.

Soo you've test driven the DBS, right? Do you get the same grin
driving the Boxter?? With a good maintenance records and a PPI if you need to get more comfortable, the the DBS could be a good buy. Without seeing some numbers its hard to say. As far as miles, looks like the previous owner enjoyed the car and most likely with the mileage came maintenance. If the 30,000 maintenance is due, get it into the deal. There is a difference in a good deal and a fair deal. As the buyer - the choice is always yours. Good luck.

As Jeremy Clarkson, of Top Gear fame, once said about low-mileage Astons:
"I’m sorry, but having an Aston Martin DB9 on the drive and not driving it is a bit like having Keira Knightley in your bed and sleeping on the couch. If you’ve got even half a ******* it’s not going to happen."
