Hi everybody,

I am trying to install the OEM BT upgrade.
On the step #43 I need to remove wires and their terminals from the 32 pin connector but I don't see how to do...
Here is the connector :

I believe you insert a small flat screwdriver into the opening to release the part of the pin that locks the contact into the plug.

I think a small screwdriver is still too large. I used a paper clip. Open up the clip and pound one end flat with a hammer on a hard metal surface. Reshape the flattened end so it has a squared tip. Keep it as small as possible. Slide this into the open end of the connector against the side of the opening. You may have to try the various sides of the opening before the pin will release. Generally pushing the clip in the middle of the opening will not release the pin. You can do this with or without a wire attached to it. When the pin releases you have to pull the pin out or push it out from the opposite side.

I was considering buying this kit to upgrade my 2007 and trying to install it myself. Is it overall not that difficult to install?

What kit did you use? The kit for 2006/2007 is different than for later cars, right?

The instructions came with the kit?

@ab_aston :
Yes, the instruction came with the kit.
There is only two kits.
One kit for the RHD and the other for LHD.
MY2006 and MY2007 it's the same.
7G43-37-10990 - Upgrade from voice activated Bluetooth RHD - DB9 (pre 08MY), V8 Vantage (pre 08MY)
7G43-37-10991 - Upgrade from voice actived Bluetooth LHD - DB9 (pre 08 MY), V8 Vantage (pre 08MY)

I am just starting to install it...

@bunob

If you could post any pics and details as you do this, it would be helpful to me and I'm sure the rest of the community here too. Thanks!

I just did more research on all of this tonight but I'm still not clear on one thing...

People have said in other threads that the kit replaces the display. I'm wondering if that's just the screen/display itself, or do you end up with buttons and everything that look like a 2009+ dash?

Looking forward to pics!

@ab_aston :
The kit replace just the screen/display, and the electronic module under the steering wheel.
This is not to look like a MY2009...

Go to CVS and get a dental pick, costs about $2 and it should get in the back side of that connector just fine. But I'm not an expert, I had the local AM dealer install mine. The kit works great !!!
