DB9 Ignition coil packs?
DB9 Ignition coil packs?
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, although I have popped in many times to have a read, very good info and helped me a few times.
I have a 2005 DB9 and live in England, I am trying to get hold of 12 ignition coils (2-pin), if I get them from Aston Martin they are £55 ($72) each, now that's quite expensive.
I have been on a UK Aston Martin forum and have found that there are 2 companies which manufacture OEM coil packs which are Denso & BERU, I have contacted the 2 companies and they won't deal with me directly but through a motor factors and the best price I have been quoted is £60 ($80) each.
I have read on a forum that someone in the UK received a full set of 12 coil packs for £120 ($160). which makes me believe that these ignition coils have a huge mark-up due to them fitting an Aston Martin.
Can anyone here help me? does anyone know anywhere which can supply me a set of coil packs for a reasonable price which can be shipped to the UK?
Thanks for your help.
Paul.

Hey Paul,
In England, best prices I know of are HWM and Aston Martin Bits.
But if I remember correctly, one of our forum sponsors (Stuart at VelocityAP.com) is working on an updated version of the coils to fix the issues they have. He'll probably chime in, hopefully with a solution for you.

Hi randyB, thanks very much for the info.
Did you fit the Delphi DG-528 coils to your DB9? if so was everythink ok, no problems with re-using the boot?
Plus are these are the 2 pin type?
Thanks
Paul.

DG-528 is the Ford part, I used the Delphi and I will have to give you that part nbr.
No problem reusing the boots and no issues so far.
Randy
I to heard Stuart had coils in development. Hopefully he will have the answer to the 3pin vs 2pin question and an update. If I recall correctly- Irish confirmed that 30,000mi was about the limit for the OEM's.

I understood after 2006 they were 3 pin-but I'm not sure.
