After looking for about a year at all the DB9s available nationwide and settling on the '07 model year for the memory seats and seat upgrades I bought my favorite one.
It's Black with a Kestrel tan interior, 20k mi and a great provenance.
With loads of help from fellow 6speed member TKO211 in Salt Lake City I got the deal done today and will head out for an epic road trip back to Massachusetts from Utah tomorrow.
Have tools, an ELM327 OBD unit, spare oil and water, etc.
Made it from Salt Lake to Moab, UT on to Albuquerque, NM and then on to Amarillo, TX.
Forgot to set the trip odometer, online map says it was an 877mi day.
The car is docile when in "D" and such a beast above 4000rpm when using the paddles.
Beautiful scenery from Moab thru Albuquerque, lots of high speed sweepers and lonely roads.
As it was my first real day with the car I did not push too hard, did see 130 bursts and some nice solid 100mph cruise time. The balance is so fine... my only real criticism is the trammeling over crowns and long breaks in the pavement, pulling the wheel to one side or the other. I think that is maybe just the width of the tires, or that they are Pirellis, or caster.. Early morning Utah
What a great trip! Luckily you didn't run into this freezing rain we are enjoying in the Midwest. . Too bad it wasn't a different time of the year...I would've gotten mine out to meet up somewhere.
Don, no salt yet, but I'm in Roanoke, VA and heading north tomorrow.. I plan to take the rest of the winter to clean off the road crud.
Ron, I have not found a self-serv wash yet. Car looks pretty much flat black with the film of dirt on it now.
Jim, I took the southern route just to miss that weather!
I40 from Amarillo to Memphis yesterday was miserable with all the semis and folks that hang in the left lane, but by contrast I40 from Memphis to Nashville and north to US81 was much more fun with lots of elevation changes and long sweeping bends the DB9 was made for.
