Looks to me the pump itself is probably a Ford that is inside a special housing made for the DB9 tank. Wish I could get that number off the pump itself. When I replace them I will get the number off the old unit and post

Would anyone know the proper fuel filter for a 2005 DB9. I see 4 listed from 22 dollars to 121 dollars?

Thanks

The plot thickens (significantly) tested the pumps with a 12v source and both run?!?

BINGO!

Threw code P0191 which is fuel rail pressure issue.

Monitored pressure and got 40 on right and 75 on left!!! No way that pump is putting out 75 psi

Datastream says fuel system 2 shutdown probably due to pressure out of limit

Tomorrow I swap the fuel pressure monitors to to see if the problem follows the monitor. Hopefully this is it.

Thanks!

Alas the sensors were not the problem. while one sensor reads varying fuel pressure with rpm changes the other stays fixed at 75 lbs.

I am not sure where to turn now..... PCM?

I taking the reading with the engine running. The PCM is not even seeing the 2nd pressure sensor. I unplugged it to see what happened and nothing. OB2 still said 75 lbs. I unplugged the other and got a fuel system error.

The reader also says fuel system 2 shut down.

I did the swap as you indicated and no change. The problem remained on the same side. I cleaned the plug and socket with deoxit to no avail

I am running out of options I think I will check the contacts with the ohm meter to see the differences in the plugs for the pressure sensors.

Oh oh now I am getting P2105 which points to a PCM problem. This could explain all the mysteries.

Any one know if I can do a simple swap of these to check?

Looks like it may have to go to the dealer for diagnostics

I will but I think it is ok.

The PCM is telling my OBD reader there is 75 psi of fuel pressure on one side. It does not matter if the pressure sensor is unplugged or not. I wonder if there is a bad sensor or other problem the sensor fails to the high limit.

Reading further P2105 and 2106 are common codes that indicate the car is in limp mode. The manual says to clear all other codes before worrying about these. I also pulled a p0193 which is fuel pressure too high.

The pressure sensors have 5v running to them from the harness as required so the PCM is apparently doing its job of trying to communicate with the pressure sensors. I just am starting to think there is an issue with this PCM.

Sure is perplexing

I tested for 5V I used pin 2 for a ground is that good enough, In addition both pin 1 and 3 had 5V on both pressure modules.

Here are the resistance readings

Rear pressure sensor (operating rail)

Pin connection Resistance
1 to ground 26
3 to ground 22
1 to 3 4.7

Front pressure sensor (non-operating rail)
Pin connection Resistance
1 to ground 5.2
3 to ground 0.5
1 to 3 4.7

My meter is not the best in the world but there is a significant difference in the impedance.

Thanks alot for your help btw......
