if you're clumsy don't get the heavy solid metal cap, if it slips out of your hand, expect some damage to happen to the paint around it

trust me, this is from experience

i have other reasons to be very careful when fueling the car so not terribly concerned about this, but i definitely see what you mean.

no joking about that... I have to hold the gas pump nozzle in or else it will go flying out, almost happened to me yesterday! Was bad enough I got some drips on the car from the pump user before me not draining it completely! Also had the gas tank overfill once before... One of these days I'll figure it out, since I seem to be stopping at gas stations more often since buying this car!

Hi guys... the metal cap has a tip so it sits on the gas door while fueling...another tip I use...I carry disposable gloves (if needed) and a plastic trash bag..when fueling I have a few (hotel) wash rags... and use when putting into and taking out the nozzle...put rags in the bag(keeps gas smell down) and use again and wash or throw away..Yes, I travel a lot and Hilton does not seem to care..diamond elite member ...Ha-Ha YES---gas does not last long but it is fun emptying the tank...
