You'd need longer bolts, but some sort of spacer might work. One side is angled though which would make it more tricky. Or just get the longer bolts and use those without a spacer. You can probably just tighten the strap down without needing a spacer.

Here's one page on the advantages. In reality, if you keep your car on a battery tender it doesn't matter for practical purposes other than the no corrosion aspect. I like the idea of a dry battery vs wet as well.

Added Protection

The strap is most likely installed for extra security in case of a rollover or severe collision...

So I talk to the parts department at Newport Beach. Apparently when you order the metal strap, there are two types. One version is 2006 to 2008 and the other version is 2009 to 2018. However it does not give you the dimensions but I’m assuming the 2006 to 2008 is the longer one that can cover the 7 1/2 inch class 49 battery.

Logically speaking, that means when the Vantage got the bigger engine, they changed the metal strap. I’m assuming shorter.

The Duracel $212 battery I purchased was the Class 49, which all of them seem to be. 7.5in but my DB9 didnt have the strap so its likely what you found above. I would get that one SLI49AGM and then either buy the longer strap, or figure a way to extend it with bolts or spacers. All depends on cost of that new strap.

$60 for the 2006-2008 metal strap. I’m assuming that is the longer 7.5” height one. He couldn’t tell me since it doesn’t show him the dimensions.

I had presumed the switch occurred later, possibly for the 2012.5 year, since nobody else had mentioned problems before me, but I guess people are just leaving the strap off if they get the size 49 or are getting the correct size 93 lead-acid from the dealer or parts store.

When I asked the AM dealer what size battery they sell for the Vantage, they said that there is only one size H8 (class 49) for all model years. Clearly incorrect information.

The smaller battery will fit in all V8 Vantages? If your selling batteries your going to sell the ones that fit all the models.

Except the battery that AM dealerships are selling is the bigger battery. H8 (class 49) is 7.5” tall. I had them confirm the measurement.

The smaller battery is class 93. They don’t sell it nor do they even show that it’s an option.

Do you think they are not fitting the center bracket? I would ask service, someone would surely know what fits your specific model.

Ok Gents.
As previously stated here, battery clamp from 2007 Vantage arrived today & it works with taller Group 49AGM batteries. I got from Galpin , for $42 with my shop discount., Part # 6G3310A786BA
If you're replacing with bigger battery & want extra security, use this clamp, it fits. BTW FYI my car 2013 V8. I used Duracell group 49 AGM battery, height is 7.5 inch .

For my DB9, picked up Duracell battery today and after installation noticed that 3 screws as shown in the photo won’t fit due to height of the battery. I put back the original battery. Any suggestions for shorter batteries ?

For the shorter battery you will likely have to get a standard wet battery. I think I found one AGM in the shorter size online, but it was over $300. The other option would be to use the Redpants battery kit, but it's even more. I'm not sure if it will fit a DB9; you'd need to check.

Duracell makes a Group 93 standard wet battery that is available at Batteries & Bulbs.
