Straight vs H vs X pipe
Great stuff. Thanks for posting. This confirms my experience over the years. That is, if back pressure is unchanged, then pipe configuration is virtually meaningless as far as horsepower and torque is concerned. In my opinion the Mustang v8 has the best sounding exhaust, and I believe they have always had an H pipe.
BTW, this test would probably be different ( as far as the sound is concerned) on the v12 engine due to its different firing order.

As I have always said all along... X-pipe always produces the best combination of power & torque of the 3, and the closer the Xpipe is to the combustion cylinders the better the results usually.
ALeo, the higher the redline, the larger the gains get typically on the top end as the largest benefits from scavenging come at higher gas velocities (hence why my RPI X pipe exhaust made 13rwhp on the dyno at redline but made very little down low). On a side note, the RPI X was so far down the exhaust system that it was not able to improve flow at lower Rpms. The newer style secondary X-pipe (which I originally came up with the idea years ago and suggested to tuning manufacturers that produce it now) is as close to the factory exhaust manifolds possible produced far better torque response down low compared to the RPI which was literally 7-8 feet down the exhaust system. Further proof where you place the crossover also plays a big factor as well

I have the xpipe in place of secondary cats on my dbs. While the power increase is substantial.. Far better than I anticipated actually, the sound level wasn't really what I expected.
It's too quiet now in my opinion.. And I'm also using a Tubi silencer. I couldn't imagine how quiet it would be if I were using the oem muffler still.
Just something to consider if you are thinking about an Xpipe setup.. This seems to be an inherent "side effect" of the design.

I have 200 cel cats and a Quicksilver muffler. When I put the X pipe on it cut down the noise level. It also gave it a more exotic sound. I agree that a Mustang GT has the best sounding exhaust note. I think a H pipe would give more of the Mustang sound. When I had my 2009 Vantage I always thought it almost sounded like a Mustang. The 4.3 engine definitely sounds different than the 4.7 a bit more exotic.
We tested our XPipe setup on a customer's car, made about 7BHP but a LOT of torque, somewhere north of 20ft/lbs I believe.

Interesting video. I installed the V-AP cat delete straight pipes on my DB9 and am liking the change. Ive noticed more of a louder/aggressive sound that starts at a lower rpm. Also there's no highway drone, which was a big worry for me.
I'd be interesting to hear a DB9 with the X pipe though to really compare them side by side.
