I have some cluth life left but it may come soon.

How much is fair LABOR only to change clutch?

I'll probally just buy the kit from redpants on the parts:
http://www.redpants.lol/shop/clutch-assembly

Kit is $3,000.

Wondering how much I should budget for labor.

Where did you do it?

Do they have to change fluid when they change cluth and flywheel?

It was done at my local independent shop that works on my Ferrari. They never did an Aston Martin clutch before, but it was not complicated.

They do not have to change the fluid. They do have to bleed the system, though, since you are changing the slave cylinder.

Clutch replacement

Hi - I replaced my '06 V8V clutch two weeks ago with the twin plate package available from VelocityAP. I also put in the full PowerPack upgrade with exhaust. It took about 15 hours and wasn't really that bad to do. The results are astonishing! The whole feel of the car is different; clutch effort is light and easy to modulate. I was worried about stalling since this clutch and flywheel combo is so much lighter. The car sounds like a supercar now and 100mph arrives noticeably faster - above 4000rpm to 7000rpm it is sooooooo sweet sounding and it pulls hard. I video'd some of the process and will put together a youtube soon.

My son and I did the work ourselves as I have a lift and lots of tools.

Yeah, if you are planning to change your exhaust now's a good time to do it since you have to remove the whole thing anyway to do the clutch. I had VAP headers installed at the same time as my clutch, it only took 1 extra hour to remove the other exhaust manifold. You have to remove one anyway to change the clutch.

Is there a reason guys are changing their entire clutch package, not just re-ligning their clutch plates?

I just put the VAP dual plate clitch in my 07 V8V. Had my local exotic Independant do the work. It took him about 15 hours and was his 1st time on an Aston. The VAP clutch works fantastic and is composed of OE parts. As said before, I have also installed the VAP headers and 200 cell cats and ECU tune. It makes a HUGE difference in performance and sound.

Would help if somebody posted some costs

$2300 is what Summit Hills AM charged for the labor to put in the VAP dual disc. DC quoted me $3800 for the same job. And you'd be better off spending a little more and go for the new AM dual plate

Because when you pay that much for the labor at the very least you also replace the slave, but most are putting in dual plates now anyway.

I admit I don't pay that much attention to ASM details but VAP has an ASM version and assumed AMR did also?

Our Twin Plate will fit both ASM and Manual cars up to 14 MY. Later MY cars require machining of the torque tube or an exchange to the earlier MY Torque tube.

We are currently offering the twin plate VAP units at $3495, including slave & gaskets.

We are a dealer for AMR parts as well, and will be offering the AMR setup at $3095.

For what it's worth, the AMR version is virtually the same as ours except with a heavier 2 piece flywheel versus our CNC machined 1-piece flywheel which is lighter. Also worth noting that although the AMR part has been announced it is not available for order just yet.

The single plate clutch is a weak point in the Aston Martin. If you need to change the clutch it makes no sense to repair or replace with another single plate clutch.
