DB9 - Metallic rubbing noise
DB9 - Metallic rubbing noise
2015 DB9 ... bought it new. I noticed wind noise coming at the side view mirrors. After adjusting seals and something else, the wind noise went down a little bit. After adjustment, I noticed some metallic rubbing noise coming from passenger side. It is very loud when driving on rough surface. Dealer tried to fix which didn't help. I am not able to figure out from where it is coming from - but it sounds like some metal parts are rubbing. Doesn't effect performance except giving me headache. Any thought on the noise ?
Fold in your mirrors and see if the noise goes away or lessens. Mine made a noise and would go away when folded in. I fixed mine myself, I can tell you how if that is your problem.
Forgot, my side mirror also vibrated, cover and all.

Wind noise or metallic rubbing noise ?
Please let me know anyway I would like to give a try. Thanks !

I would say neither, it was kind of hard to explain the sound. Mine was an issue where the mount and the mirror frame was not tightly held together anymore, so there was vibration in the mirror and the noise.
Please let me know how you fixed it. I would definitely give a try. The problem started only after dealer tried to fix wind noise issue.
1) Removed mirror and cover
2) you will need to feed some of the wires into the mirror to allow you to take the mirror housing off of the bracket, the bracket has basically a hollow tube that the housing rides on. Sorry, but the how you release the housing to take it off the the bracket I do not remember.
3) I got a very thin copper washer, I will look up when I get home where I got it from, and greased it on both sides with lithium grease, you only need a little bit.
4) put the copper washer on the tube and then the housing back on and reassembled.
After that the mirror was stable, if I remember anymore I will post it.
