DB9 help needed

Hi, I have owned a bunch of 12cyl cars and a bunch of AM, but never an AM12 cyl.
I have been looking at an 08 coupe. I have never even driven a DB9 and there aren't any within 150 miles so want to do some research before I make the trip to see and drive in person.

How does this car perform compared to other euro 12's like MB or Ferrari for similar model years?
Are they fun to drive?
Does anyone have experience with Velocity power packs on this car?

If you are an owner, anything else you might share would be appreciated.
thanks, John

Go Drive a DB9

I think the only way to answer your post is to tell you to go drive a DB9.

You state that you are in NorCal. I just bought a DB9 in SoCal but there are several cars you can check out in Norcal. I was looking for a Convertible so I know where those are.

Depending where you are....Norcal can cover a lot of territory.

There is a white DB9 Volante at a dealer in Burlingame.
There is a black DB9 Volante at the Los Gatos Aston dealer
There is a silver DB9 Volante at a dealer in San Luis Obispo
There is a dark grey DB9 Volante at a dealer in Sacramento

I have only had my car for one week and I really like it but I haven't driven any of the other 12's you mention in your post. So no point of comparison. I have a MB v8 and I have had multiple Porsches, Triumphs, Alfas so that is my reference.

Go drive one its the only way to know if its what you want.

Mjanis, thanks for the input. If you have time, maybe you can pm the dealers. I know about the Los Gatos car but not the Sacto or Burlingame.
Glad to hear you are enjoying the car.

The key is to remember when you look at the DB9 is that it is a grand touring car and is not setup (at least from the factory) as a track or race car. It's not a slouch in the corners but it's definitely not a canyon carver. That said, I use mine for road trips, cruising, etc and for those purposes I absolutely love it.

This is correct; however, if you put the VAP springs and a tune on the DB9, it does transform the car more to the aggressive side. Mine i believe would be a canyon carver at this point, but yes its a bit heavy and not like the V8V or 911's. I do think its mostly a grand tourer regardless of how they are modded. Hope that made some sense, LOL

I'm a new DB9 owner. I can't compare it to any other exotics because this is the most exotic car I've owned. For me it's the culmination of a lifelong dream to own an Aston Martin and as I got older any infatuation I had for a Ferrari or a Lambo dwindled especially when considering maintainence. An Aston is just pure class. But it's definently no slouch. Comparing it to other cars I've owned, I will say the DB9 performance blows my LT4 corvette out of the water. It gets just as much attention as the DeLorean I had (No performance there) and the ammenties are second to none. So far it's been the absolute pinnacle of my automotive ownership. Nothing else even compares to it. IMHO.
