Calling all RR Sport Supercharged Owners

Well, I found out my MB sold and I needed to move into something else and grabbed a MINT 2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged in Santorini Black (Mettallic black) and Ivory interior. Pics below.

I know several of you guys own these, namely Greg in SA. But not sure what years. Could you guys tell me what you love about them and what you hate about them. For the most part I have been told they are reliable and only sometimes cost a bit for a repair. Online people just complain about them, so taking that as the rarer cases and with a grain of salt. I wont be even seeing this till FEB, but my buddy who put it in his garage says its like brand new condition, and drives perfect. (he has owned several RR and LRs)

But, maybe looking to VAP tune it, through Stuart. Just want to see what your thoughts on the car is, and if worth it to put a tune on it. Yep, know its a AM section, but I want the AM owners to respond. Such as How well does the interior compare to a AM interior?

Your RRS looks amazing, I am sure you will love it. I have had an LR3 for 10 years and it has been solid.

Beware the blue jeans stains that will wind up on your seats

great truck though, I also had an LR3 for 6 or so years and miss it quite a bit at times

Beautiful! Buy it I had mine for many years with no issues, as long you do your service maintenance on time it will be good to you. Tune and pulley upgrade is a must, Stuart at Velocityap can help you with both.

Find a good indie LR shop. These are complex cars with many specialized parts that require LR diagnostic tools. My friend has a used LR specialty dealership and they pay a lot to LR each year for tools and updates for their diagnostic set.

We owned the full RR HSE; the last year with BMW engine. Did not like that engine much, but the car was nice. Love that turning radius and how powerful the heat and AC are!

I run an independant LR shop in my country, mostly diesel cars. The weakest point of those cars are the front wishbones, air suspension compressor and struts, they all commend high prices.

It's a shame when owners convert them to coils vs fixing the air suspension.

lets kick it off by adding some facts.

The Rangie is the best car for a DD simple its fast as in F&%^&king fast in otherwords we dont care about Porsche ponce or R8 wanna be, lets for get the tosser in the Sabaru with the over sised pipe

Mine has 83000Km on clock goes like the day I got it, it still has motor plan till May next year or 100 000Km

I have had the alarm code thing reset (flash) as it was periodically making a chirp when locking the car and this was annoying.

The IRD box went in mine the box that controls the 4 wheel drive it was done under plan and as far as reported it is not a common issue with these cars, it was around 28K so about 2500 USD if one had to pay for it.

I drive it like i stole it,.. read I drive it hard the brakes are exactly the same as in my Aston except branded Brembo and not AM.

It has suffer a head lamp failure and this could be expensive but again mine is under plan.

In all the best car I have owned it rides like a limo, accelerates like a sports car, stops like race car, my only gripe if I had to add is that she is heavy on gas and the tank could be bigger.

The black with white is fab but black shows the dirt and as said by another poster the white seats will get ugly in no time. But man it look the dogs bollocks!!!

Mine is grey with black interior, and all round if I want to go out and dont want a car that will attract attention then this is the car, stress free driving its not flash its not a X6 or Porsche Cayen thing its a Range Rover and it commands respect.

Oh and you can do pavements and get to places its not a toy this is a tool

Enjoy it!!

You mentioned the gas tank wasn't large and 25 gallons is a large gas tank. How large should the Range Rover gas tank be then; 40 or 50 gallons?

and if your compressor is running a bunch and overheating have them check the hose that goes to the distributor block if its not a leak in one of the air struts... that lil mistake cost me a few thousand on a newer compressor I didn't need

I am really looking forward to this RR. I can't imagine what 500hp feels like in it. My buddy who has a 2016 TD6 RRS said mine is unbelievably fast. Not better than stock, but compared to his way different.

Black paint is the only way I go----I do the paint corrections, so keeping a black car clean is no issue at all. Never been an issue for the past 8x cars. But the whitish interior may be problematic. I don't eat in cars, and don't get in them sweaty. Usually well dressed in nice clothes, so shouldn't be any issue once I clean them perfectly. Dr seat needs it from the pictures a bit.

Stuart already quoted me a Tune price. I likely will get one. I am not going to do the pulley for the SC. From what I have read, the SC is already close to its max output, and increasing its spinning will only create heat soak issues. So just upping the power a bit, then perfecting its output is likely all it needs. It has enough power to begin with, I would think.

Thanks GREG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know they are great, fast, and command respect. Just not ever owned one, or driven one for more than 10mi, and def not the RRSSC model. So looking very much forward to this.

Biggest thing is it has 21' wheels. I DO NOT care for the black rims at all. I am not a rapper. IF the RR was white with the black wheels and roof that is great, just not murdered out IMHO. I would rather have the silver wheels IMO. Anyway, only 4x companies make tires for this 21' size. 275/45r21 Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, Goodyear and all kinda just one tire choice. The Michelin is a summer sport SUV tire and is OEM. They suck in winter and the tire says not to use under freezing temps. But LR made Michelin put M+S on them LOL. The Continental is 300+ ea and while All Seasons, they suck too on most areas. The only choice it seems reasonable is the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Seasons for lower 200's. But reviews are all over the place for all the various tires. I have been spending most my time figuring this out for the past week, attempting to make decisions. If I move to FL, the Michelins are just perfect. But, if I move to D.C. then snow in winter will happen several times. So I want to be prepared.

Any other suggestions I would love to hear.

HOW is the interior compared to Astons? I have heard its on par or very close to the same quality.

Interiors are nice, more plastic than astons and the leather is more durable feeling but they are very nice interiors and a great place to sit on a long drive

Our RR came with 22" wheels that were awful. I sold them and went with OEM 19". The Michelin Latitude's are expensive! Next time I would buy a 2nd set and put snow tires on them. I got stuck once with Latitude's in the snow!

Not the same quality. Closer to other JLR cars, especially the higher end ones like XJ. There seems to be a couple of different leather grades on the RR, or for sure the era of my '05. Ours had much nicer leather than some other RR's for whatever reason. I think it was an optional hide. They are not full grain like the Aston.
