Anyone considering AMR upgrades?
Stewart - the problem with third party exhaust is the warranty is not honored. For example, I just got this V12S a few weeks ago with 8,500 miles... so far the console control panel needs replaced because of a defective toggle button, the interior door handle needs adjustment, the tail light needs replacement, and the leather panels needs replaced on the dash because of shrinkage - all under warranty - in just the first two weeks of ownership. The warranty I have will last about 2 1/2 years, then I'll renew for at least another two. Morries AM made it quite clear - any third party exhaust voids warranty. Suggestions?
That's for the next generation, they changed the substrate material, but are not going to go back and do the old panels in the new substrate.
This is the first Vantage I've had that had leather shrinkage, must have been left in the sun - the others were light colored leather, not black, if that has anything to do with it.
You are right that the sun is the cause of leather shrinkage - especially with a black interior. My '09 roadster- obsidian black interior- spends little time in the sun, except when I am driving it. I have on small spot on the upper dash panel on the passenger side showing a bit of shrinkage. I plan to set aside a couple of hours before it goes up for the winter to repair it. I believe there is a youtube video on leather repairs.
I bought a replacement passenger panel but I wasn't going to put it in until I figured out how to make it stay like it is, and since they always give way on the interior side, which is not wrapped over the edge like the window side, I came up with the idea of drilling holes along the bottom corner every 1/4" and stitching it to the substrate. It would be hidden by the dash panel and should be a permanent fix. I just haven't had time to do it yet.

I don't know where but it was stated the real problem was the expansion and contraction rates or the leather and the substrate and with time lapse photography they could watch it delaminate. Their solution was to change the substrate to a formula with different expansion contraction rates which will be used on all models going forward, starting with the DB11.
I can't see any reason why stitching that lower edge to eliminate glue failure would fail. It was such a simple solution somebody else had to have thought of it also.

Found it. My reply #21, and response #22
If it tears it tears, my bet is if it's stitched across the whole corner from end to end it will be just fine as too large an area would have to give. As Aston reported it was the difference in expansion and contraction that was the culprit not failure of the adhesive.
Either way I have no problem being the guinea pig, if I could just find some time to do the job. I came up with the idea 3 months ago [even if you came up with it 2 years ago] and it's still sitting there begging me to get to it.

Whole hog on tune, headers etc and you are into a grey area. Have to be comfortable with some risk with your warranty for that.

There is a federal law that does not let a warranty to be voided if there is a modification to the car. I can not think of the name of the Senator it is named after but Google and you may fine it. There may be some parts of the law that may let the warranty to get voided but I would check. I think the law was created to stop the car companies from voiding the warranty if you changed the radio or an air cleaner. Things like that.
For the USA, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is probably what you are thinking of.
